OMRF HelpdeskWorking Remotely: Accessing your work Mac computer from a home Windows 10 computerThis tutorial will help you set up a VPN to the OMRF network and Remote Desktop so you can access your work system from offsite. These instructions are for using a Windows 10 computer to connect to a Mac computer.You will need:Internet AccessYour work computer’s hostnameYour OMRF login credentials31089608320The computer hostname can be found in the Sharing preferencesThe computer hostname can be found in the Sharing preferencesSetup steps: On your OMRF systemTurn on Screen SharingOpen System PreferencesOpen the Sharing preferences paneCheck the “Screen Sharing” checkboxFor “Allow access for:” select the “Only these users:” option. Click the “+” button near the bottom of the window to open the user chooser panel. Click on your username and then click “Select” At the top of the window, click the “Edit...” buttonTake note of the Local Hostname and then click cancel. You will use this local hostname to connect to your computer. (For this example, the hostname is md12345-123)Disable sleepOpen System PreferencesOpen the Energy Saver preferences paneCheck the checkbox next to “Prevent computer from sleeping automatically when the display is off”On your home systemDownload and install Pulse Secure.Go to Log in with your OMRF username and passwordClick on “VPN Stand-alone Installers” Click on “Junos Pulse”Click on “9.1R2.0” (or whatever the most recent link is)Click on “Windows” Click on “PulseSecure.x64.msi” if your home computer has a 64-bit processor, or “PulseSecure.x86.msi” if it has a 32-bit processor. Click the name of the connection.Click “Connect” to establish the VPN connection. Enter your OMRF username and password. If you wish to save the credentials, click the “Save settings” checkbox.Click “Connect”.You should now be connected to the OMRF network VPN. All Network traffic will go through OMRF network while connected to the VPNEstablish VNC ConnectionOpen the VNC Viewer shortcut that was created on the Desktop. Double-click on the thumbnail created in section C.
