NWU – Network Access Control

Prerequisite steps, before you begin :

1. Uninstall Mcafee Antivirus and the RSClient

Option 1: Once the network cable has been connected to the PC. Open a command

prompt and check with ipconfig, your IP address.

If you have a 10.94.X.X address you are on the remediation network and you

can run

Option 2: Download the removal tool (clean.exe) on a USB device and run on the PC



You are now ready to continue :

Open a Browser and go to URL will be redirected and the following will momentarily be displayed:

The following will then appear if this is your first connection attempt. Click “Agree” to continue:

Click “Start>>” to proceed:

Again provide your University Number, your Password and then click “Click to Continue”:

Wait for the connection to finish:

Click Ok when prompted and close and re-open your Browser as requested:

The following will again be displayed for a few seconds:

The following will then be displayed:

The following will appear. Click “NWU-Persistent Security Policy” to continue:

Click the “Click to Continue” button to download and to save and install the Persistent Network Agent:

Always Save to your disk first. ( Save to the Desktop for simplicity – as shown in following slides ):

You many close the Browser Window.

Open Windows Explorer and run the application file from where you saved it:

The Install will commence. Click Next to continue:

Wait for finish:

Click Finish to end installation:

Re-Open your Browser ( if open close any open Browser instances )

The following screens will be seen in succession:

And then this we be displayed. If your Mcafee is broken/not up to date the Browser will go to this page ( if not, close and re-open your Browser ). Click on “NWU Persistent Security Policy” link again:

After clicking on “NWU Persistent Security Policy” you will see which required products are not compliant:

Always click the top link and then save the installer that is provided. [pic]

Save to the Desktop for simplicity sake. Open Windows Explorer and run the installation file.

The following security warning may appear:

Click “Allow” to continue and accept any other UAC/Security prompts that may require approval to continue with the installation. Always follow the instructions in the dos window provided by the installer. Click the “Rescan” button in ( or close/open ) the Browser again. In case of Security Essentials the following appears:

Click the top link and Save/execute once again:

After Save/execution, close and re-open your Browser.

You should now be authenticated and also authorized to use the network. Any web address should be accessible and a full Wireless connection to the LAN should exist.

Note: If for any reason the web pages are inaccessible, do the following: Go to the Internet Explorer Tools menu and click “Internet Options” and “Advanced” and then click the “Reset” button in the botton part

( under “Reset Internet Explorer settings”. )

Restart Internet Explorer to finish. Go through the prompts to reset Internet Explorer settings:
