If students do not have homework they will be engaged in other activities such as reading or playing educational games with their peers.Homework HotlineStudents will participate in a 2-day a week homework assistance program in which a facilitator will aid in reading, writing, and math. Additionally, students will aid other students with homework, as needed, to foster their leadership skills, self-esteem, problem solving skills, and communication skills with their peers.Little Bulldog Jrs.Created for 1st Graders, students will be engaged in a fun, rotating 2-day program that is comprised of one day of academic instruction and one day of arts, physical activity, music, or foreign language.Bulldog Jrs.Created for 2nd Graders, students will be engaged in a fun, rotating 2-day program that is comprised of one day of academic instruction and one day of arts, physical activity, music, or foreign language.Animal Explorer ClubThis program dives into the most unique and exotic animals for students to explore. Students will engage in various activities that cultivate their understanding of these animals and how they live. This may include, but not limited to, creating crafts, exploring movement, and participating in games.Sketch ClubIn this class students will learn the fundamentals of sketching and how its artistry can be used as the foundation of future multimedia projects such as painting and sculptures. Students will sketch a multitude of images that enhance their creativity and fine-motor capabilities.Writing ClubStudents will participate in various forms of writing that will enhance not only how the write, but also what they write. Students will practice the art of writing in a multitude of forms such as, but not limited to, letters, poems, stories, and non-fiction writing.DIY Lego ClubIn this class students be able to build their own Lego creations. They will be provided with Legos, Lego project idea books, Lego Encyclopedias and Lego Magazine. DIY Lego Club is designed to provide members with an enjoyable activity that stimulates and develops spatial intelligence.Book Club (Other Words for Home)Students will read the book “Other Words for Home”. Jude, a young girl from Syria, is forced to move to America with relatives and adapt to American life and culture all while finding herself and adjusting to a new place to call home. Students will explore the text in relation to their own life experiences and participate in group discussions, individual reflection, and artistic activities to connect their story to Jude’s.MusicIn this class students will explore various genres of music while examining how music effects them physically, mentally, and emotionally. Students will explore and utilize various instruments and work collaboratively to perform their choice of songs. Debate ClubIn this class students learn the foundation of what a debate is and participate in debates with their peers. They will learn the concept of exploring their topic and utilizing facts to support their opinions as well as practice the art of public speaking.Spanish ClubIn this class students will learn/practice Spanish in a relaxed, interactive and stimulating environment. Students will develop language skills through singing, creative art, playing games, storytelling, exploration, and so much more. The motto for this class will be: “No ingles por favor!”?Helping PawsStudents will work on finding community service projects in their school and community. The students learn about the impact giving back to the community can have. The students will read about different organizations in the community and then plan on working with that group to complete a service learning project. ................
