Drumahoe Primary School

Festive Event: There has, yet again, been a very good response to our “Festive Day” where Santa will be extremely busy seeing to all the children’s needs. The items for the ‘100 Stall’,” Christmas Stall” and “Toy Stall” are slowly coming in but please remember that we need as many items as possible to make the event the success that it has always been! The P.T.A. would still welcome items for the above stalls and they are still very keen to receive items for the Prize Ballot (currently we only have 3 Ballot prizes!!!) and “100 Stall” and these can be left into the Office at any time. Next week is Cake Stall Week which we always rely upon. The whole event will take place in the school on Thursday 6th December 2018 from 6.00 p.m. – 8.00 p.m. with Santa starting to see the children both in the morning from 9.15 a.m. (Breakfast with Santa in his Winter Wonderland) and in his Grotto in the evening from 6.00 p.m. Further details surrounding visiting Santa and avoiding the need to queue have already been issued. Don’t forget that there will be tea/coffee and mince pies as well as a 100 Stall, Bran Tub, Toy Stall, Tuckshop, and an Outdoor Kidz Petting Farm to provide a little something for everyone. Admission is ?1.00 which includes a complimentary cup of tea/coffee and a mince pie. Admission for pupils of Drumahoe P.S. is free! Car parking will be available in both the Main Car Park, the new Play Park as well as the Drumahoe Road and surrounding area. Please refrain from parking in the “Staff” Car Park in our own school and please also respect our neighbours by not parking in front of gates etc.School will close @ 2.00 p.m. on Thursday 6th December 2018 to allow for the setting up of the stalls etc. for the evening event.P.T.A. Draws: (Cuddly Toy – 50p per guess or 3 for ?1 and Sweets -20p per guess or 6 for ?1): Guess the number of sweets in the jar, and guess the name of the cuddly toy will shortly be running in school. The winners will be announced at Assembly during the last week.KS1 & KS2 Carol Service: The 24th Annual Carol Service will take place again in Glendermott Presbyterian Church on Wednesday 19th December 2018 starting at 7.00 p.m. I am delighted to announce that Rev J Hanna has accepted our invitation to officiate at the event. This evening service has proved very successful over many years but due to the increased numbers in school (323 pupils) and the lack of car park space and seating at Glendermott Presbyterian Church, we have decided again this year that it will only be P3-P7 performing at this event. Years 3-7 are practising hard in school and will be performing their own pieces as well as performances from the school choir. The traditional community involvement in the singing of carols will ensure that nobody feels left out on the night. All children must be collected from the Church Hall after the service which will last approximately an hour ie. 7-8 p.m.P1 & P2 Nativity: This year, due to the increased numbers in the school we have again decided that the P1 & P2 classes will perform their own ‘Christmas Nativity’ play for their families & friends here in school. The ‘Nativity’ will take place in the Assembly Hall on Wednesday 12th & Thursday 13th December 2018 @ 10.00 a.m. and the PTA will be providing tea/coffee & mince pies/shortbread (?2 per head) after the event which will go towards purchasing Outdoor Play Equipment for the Foundation Stage (P1 & P2). As space in the Hall is also limited, we will be allocating tickets to secure your seat at our first ever ‘Christmas Nativity’. Further details on ticket allocation have already been issued.Christmas Lunch: This will be on Wednesday 19th December 2018 and anyone wishing to avail of this lunch should return the reply slip on or before Friday 7th December 2018 (cost ?2.60).Ancillary Staff: As you may also already know, each year we like to show our appreciation to our office, classroom assistants, ancillary, school meals and caretaking staff by presenting them with small gifts for Christmas. If you would like to contribute towards these gifts, we would ask that your donation be sent to school before Friday 14th December 2018. Your generosity is as always much appreciated.Pantomime: Almost the entire school will depart on Friday 14th December 2018 for the trip to the Millennium Forum to see the pantomime, “Peter Pan.” Those children not travelling should send a note into school and a present mark will be given for that day. There will be no dinners served in school on the day and school will close for all pupils at approx.2.00 p.m. Kadet Klub will be open for those parents requiring childcare – phone Heather or Tracy on 07874011648 to book (Places limited – use Dec Booking Form please!). Please ensure that your child has a substantial “mid-morning break” to see them through to 1.30 p.m. All monies owed in respect of the Pantomime must be paid by Friday 7th December 2018.Closing / Opening: School will close for the pupils at 12 noon on Friday 21st December 2018 (no dinners) for the Christmas holidays. School re-opens for the Spring Term at 8.55 a.m. on Monday 7th January 2019. The “Breakfast Club” will be in operation on that day and any money should be brought in the appropriate money pouch. The Kadet Klub will also be in operation from this day. ................
