Daniken, Erich Von

Chariots of the gods?: unsolved mysteries of the past; translated from the German by Michael Heron. 1989. 6 hours 11 minutes, Order No: 400040.

The author argues that the gods of the dim past have left traces which we can read and decipher today, because space travel was a reality to the men thousands of years ago. This book attempts to answer these and other questions. The author presents cases, including those reported by qualified military and civilian witnesses, and confirmation by defence chiefs in several countries proving that UFOs exist as a serious security threat.

Crucial to their approach is the conflict between supposedly "rational" and "irrational" systems of belief. Through the use of scholarship in the fields of anthropology, gender and historical studies, they present a vision of witch belief as central rather than, as was once thought, peripheral to intellectual and theological debate in early modern Europe.

Freud is acknowledged as the founder of psychoanalysis, the key to unlocking the human mind, which has become so essential to mankind's survival in all the confusions of the 20th century. As science and technology have often rushed ahead of our ability to cope with the consequences, Freud saw that man is at war with himself and often unable to tolerate too much reality, and he pronounced that dreams are the contraband representations of the beast within man which are smuggled into awareness during sleep. In Freudian interpretation, the analysis of dreams constitutes the key to unlocking the vital secrets of the unconscious mind.
