Day 1: Vocabulary Lesson Sequence

Each student will be given a copy of the chart(s) above. Words will be read and students will pronounce each word after the teacher. A student will be called on to read the definition.

Activity for Day 1. Fill in the blanks with the correct word. Students will be given the sentences below orally. They will choose the best word to finish the sentence using the words that were just introduced.

Day 2: Reviewing words and meanings.

Students will be paired with another student. All seven words will be placed into a tin.

One student from each group will draw out a word. The pair will plan how to act out the

word they drew from the tin. The other pairs will try to guess the word. The team to

guess the answer will be next to act out their word.

Activity for Day 2. Each student will be given the sheet below to mark their answers.

Day 3: Reviewing words and meanings.

“What’s My Word” will be played as was “What’s My Line.” Placed in a tin will be strips of paper. Four strips of paper have a P on them for panel. One strip will have an H on it for host. Other strips will have a vocabulary word on it. Every word will be in the tin, panel and word “contestants” will trade places from time to time. A student will come out and sit beside the host. The panel of four will ask questions of the contestant to discover what word they are. The definition can not be asked. Contestants and members of the panel will change places until all words have been used.

Activity for Day 3. Which One and Why? Students will be asked these questions orally. Each

student will have a turn answering a question.
