Role Description

Priest in Charge of Scalby and Hackness w Harwood Dale

Held in plurality within The North Scarborough Group Ministry

Introduction

This Role Description has been compiled in association with the Parish Profile which contains the Parochial Church Council’s statement describing the conditions, needs and traditions of the parishes made in accordance with section 11 of the Patronage (Benefices) Measure 1986.

The Role Description should be reviewed 6 months after the start of the appointment, if necessary at Ministerial Development Reviews, with reference to the setting of objectives and at any other time on request.

Role Context

Pastoral re-organisation is currently underway in the North Scarborough Group Ministry (NSGM) to maximise ministerial resources. This re-structured post is being advertised for a Priest for Charge. The post holder will become the Incumbent once the formal Scheme is in place. The other posts in the NSGM are being re-organised as follows: The parishes of St Mark, Newby and St Luke, Scarborough as one stipendiary post; the parish of St Mary, Cloughton and the parish of St Hilda, Ravenscar and St John the Baptist, Staintondale as a House for Duty post.

There are no proposals or intentions at present to reduce the number of stipendiary clergy in Scarborough. There is a growing commitment across the Deanery that both clergy and churches will work together collaboratively; this is being expressed in the NSGM.
