February 5, 2020

Call to Order, Pledge of Allegiance

President Nick Cipiti called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m., followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

Trustees present: Nick Cipiti, Steve Donnell, Marilyn Goodman, Cheryl Grossman, Alyson Miles, Dennis Damon, John Fortkamp, John Guroy

Approval of Minutes

Nick presented the minutes from January’s meeting. John G moved to approve minutes; Marilyn seconded and the motion passed unanimously.

Treasurer's Report

John G presented the treasurer’s report. Cheryl motioned to pass, Nick approved, motion passed unanimously.

Marilyn motioned to approve new members, Cheryl seconded, and the motion passed unanimously.

City Reports

Police Department 

No representative from the police department.

Fire Department

Captain Rybinski had nothing to report.

Neighborhood Liaison

• Zoning training would be held February 8 at 9-12 am.

• February 11- Lunch and Learns: open to the public. 11 am to 1 pm.

o Weekly focus- Women’s right to vote.

• State of City meeting at West High School at 5:00 pm on February 13.

• City Council celebrates Black History Month on Wednesday February 19 from 1-2 pm.

• Columbus Women’s commission- Tuesday February 25 at 6:00 pm

• N. Neighborhood pride center open office meet n’ greet February 27 from 4:30 to 6:30.

Guest Speaker- Columbus State Community College, Barbara Allen and Annie Clausen

-Spoke about College Credit Plus for 7th through 12th graders to earn free college credit as well as experience.

Committee Reports

Code Enforcement

Nothing to report.

Membership and Social

New members would help sway our views, door to door work would be helpful in getting the NWCA name out in people’s mind.

Streets and Safety

Nothing to report.

Website and Communication

Still selling $15 t-shirts in an attempt to upgrade the website.

OSU Report

New boss is running the OSU Airport and would like to join the NWCA.

Parks, Recreation, and Bikeways

Nothing to Report

Student Trustee Program

Find out about the possible school sign upgrade for Centennial High School and what it would include as well as why the idea has not been carried through yet.
