Intro: Going down the wrong path with the canoe

Need: Understand you’re on a path leading you somewhere.

Its not as much about your intention as it is your direction. Not even desire.

Where will you end up if you are heading down a certain road? You need to change your destination, then take a look at changes for your direction, and then you’ll be on the right path. So guys, what kind of man do you want to be in life? Ladies, what kind of life do you truly dream to have? Go that way! I have one shot to get you on the right path so that you reach the best destination!

Unbiblical:

Guys: Gamer, lazy, mom-hater, violent, the player, the stalker, the porn guy, the guy friend hater, the wuss, creeper, play with girls emotions, facebooking emotions, just looking for a hot girl, one way at church and one way at the Prom, the church skipper, the sports guy over everything, sex-looker.

Ladies: Unsaved dater, leader, man-chaser, serial dater, the indecisive, needer, the maker-outter, the inappropriate dresser, the flirt, the sex-girl, the girl friend hater, the have-to-be-dater to be like everyone else, I’m not worth a good guy so dates bad boys who use her, too forgiving, single and bitter, bad girl at the prom.

Biblical Masculinity and Femininity - What you didn’t expect to hear:

We want very strong, hard-working, leading, tough, but yet gentle, loving, compassionate, and understanding kind of guys. A lot of people today think that Christianity is trying to turn you guys into just nice, smiling, weak wusses who can’t stand up for themselves or their families. We need strong protectors who love Jesus

We want very intelligent, resourceful, decision-making, tough, and leading but yet very submissive, supportive, and loving kind of ladies. A lot of people today think that Christianity is trying to turn you ladies into barefoot, pregnant, never leave the home, and never allowed to speak kind of women. We need strong ladies love Jesus!

God and The Gospel:

This all happens through the gospel. If we are true Christians called to follow and serve Christ through the gospel. Then the gospel makes sense of all of our lives…including our gender roles. 1 Corinthians 11:2-3. The relationship between the Father and Jesus tells us everything. Ephesians 5. The relationship between Jesus and His church tells us everything.

Gender Roles reflect God’s Trinity, Gospel, and Eternity.

The curse in Genesis 3 is specifically sin’s result on gender.

Biblical Masculinity and Femininity:

Guys: We are called to Lead, Love, Provide, and Protect. (Proverbs 31)

Fathering! Be a BIBLICAL BEAST by looking to the Father with the Son and by looking to Jesus with the church.

Girls: You are called to Submit, Support, Mother, and Manage (Proverbs 31)

31:10-12 Submissive and Supportive

31:13-25 Manager of the home and family. Different than leader!

31:26-28 Mothering the children.

31:29-31 The result of a Biblical Beauty

Be a BIBLICAL BEAUTY by looking to Jesus with the Father and by looking to the church with Jesus. Women are called to be a helper which is a term mostly used for God in the Bible. Women who don’t believe they should be submissive supporters say that Jesus and the church shouldn’t either.

Women are completers. Help your man think and make decisions. Complete him. Men are fact-driven while women are relation-driven.

Look for these kinds of spouses. You and they are on a directional course as well.

Here’s the immediate focus:

Don’t sacrifice your future just to have the present.

Don’t set yourself up for divorce by starting terrible habits.

The point of love relationships is marriage…not dating.

My singleness has been both a strength and a weakness in my ministry. What I go through as a single man. Why God has me single. How I handle my singleness. What gives me the right?

Think way more about marriage than dating. This pattern in your life.

Who you date now is who you will marry later…if you don’t change it now.

Who you’re attracted to now and who you date now is who you’ll be married to later. What is the path they’re on? The direction of their path decides their destination

Tonight, I’m not picturing in this audience a bunch of teenagers…but I’m picturing in this audience a bunch of grand parents. Bald, gray hair, canes, walkers, overweight, wrinkly skin, coke bottle glasses, pants pulled up to his chest, suspenders, 3 piece suit-wearing, moo-moo wearing, trucker hats, coffee breath, scrabble experts.

If each of you marry and has 3 kids with your spouse, we’re talking 875 total people here represented. If each of your 3 kids marry and has 3 kids, then we’re talking 2,625 people. That is 15x’s tonight’s 175!
