ACTIVITY 23: Crossword Puzzle Design

ACTIVITY 23: Crossword Puzzle Design

1. Select a minimum of ten words from the Word Vocabulary List at the beginning of this book. You will also need the definitions of the words.

2. Create a table with 12 to 15 columns and 12 to 15 rows. Make the table a font size around 18 to 20 point. Center the text in all squares.

3. Using capital letters, fill the ten vocabulary words into the spaces, one letter per square, vertically and horizontally.

4. Delete the first letter of each word, make the font size point 10, change the alignment to left align, and type in consecutive numbers at the beginning of each word.

5. Use the fill icon to darken all the unused spaces.

6. Under the table, format for two columns (FROM THIS POINT FORWARD!) Label one column ACROSS and one column DOWN.

7. Number and type the definition of the clues for both the Across and Down words.

8. Remove all remaining letters, leaving just the blank squares ready to fill in. Make sure you don’t delete the numbers!

9. Be sure everything fits on one page and your definitions are accurate. Save as Activity 23 and submit using Edmodo.
