UNIT - A CHAPTER ONE BELIEF IN THE UNSEEN

Q1. Why do you think that some people only believe in the material world and disbelieve in the spiritual unseen world? Ans. It is because some people don't have knowledge, Iman, faith, trust in themselves. They are uneducated, unmindful, introvert and proud, that's why they don't believe in the spiritual world. Q.2. Why do people find safety in saying that hey will believe what they see? Ans: The people who have poor Iman and are proud, do not think properly about the creator. Q.3. Define Fitrah

Ans: Fitrah is the way, Allah created us and inspired us to believe in, love and obey our creator. We should follow his guidance try to do good deeds. Q.4. Does everyone have Fitrah? Ans: Everyone is born on fitrah but some people follow the footsteps of shaytan that's why they don't like to worship Allah. Q.5. Discuss Al-Batin

Ans: Allah is the originator of all seen and unseen. He cannot be seen by His servants but he sees us. Q.6. Define and discuss At-Thahir

Ans: It is obvious or evident through his creation, miracles and blessings that are evident everywhere and cannot be ignored. He is unseen, but our eyes can see the evidence of his existence wherever we look. Q.7. List three things (creations) which cannot be seen but believe in it. Ans: They are: weather, electricity, gravity and historical figures, etc... Q.8. How did Zaid make a mockery of the atheist's speech? Ans: He used the atheist's reasoning that if you cannot see something then it is not logical to say that since his mind could not be seen by the students then that meant he had no mind. This also meant that the atheist has no logic to say that Allah does not exist. Q.9. Explain the statement, "Allah is Unseen but He is Obvious". Ans: We do not see God, but we see and feel the signs and evidence of his existence in every second of our lives. We feel it in our heartbeats, with every breath we take and with every blink of our eyes wee see these signs when we see babies born, flowers spread their colors and scents, birds fly up high, animals roaming in forests and deserts, amazing fish swimming down deep in the rivers, seas and oceans. Q.10. Define Al-Ghayb

Ans: We believe in things although we do not see them. Belief in Al-ghayb or the unseen is a necessity of life. Q.11. What are some proofs of strong belief in the unseen, as shown in the story of Harithah with Rasoolullah.

Ans: One day Rasoolullah was sitting in the Majid when a man called Harithah came in. The Prophet asked Harithah, "How are you in this morning?" "I am a true believer today" Harithah replied. This needs to be proved, the Prophet contended. "Oh, Rasoolullah! I believe in Allah as if I see him with my own eyes on his throne. I believe in the paradise as if I see people in it visiting

each other. And I believe in hell as if I see and hear its people fighting with each other in it. Q.12. What is the name of Allah that means, "The Unseen"? Write on ayah that includes that name in Arabic and English. Ans: Al-Batin "The Unseen" means He cannot be seen by His servants in this life but they see his power, greatness, mercy, compassion and marvelous creations in this world. Allah says in Surat-ul-Hadee:

English: He is the first and the last and the evident and the Unseen, and He is knowledgeable of

all things.

Ans: Believing in the unseen is the central of our faith in Islam. One has to believe in Allah, Angels, Holy book, Messengers, Day of judgment, fate (good or bad). Almost all of these pillars are unseen to mankind. Q.3. What is the meaning of the word "Fitrah". Ans: Al-Fitrah is the human nature that makes us feel, think and praise the One who has created this entire universe with some purpose. The sun, the moon, stars, oceans, tree, animals, birds, mountains all are created by Allah for man to use them in daily life. Q.4. How can you show that you believe in the unseen? Ans: We can show it by having firm belief in Allah, obeying His orders, worshiping Him alone and doing every act of our life according to the tenets of Islam. Q.5. Why is believing in things that we cannot see or touch so important in Islam? Ans: It is important because it leads us to know that Allah exists, when one can believe in the unseen wind, weather, air, temperature but feels their effects which are reflected in each and everything of this world. Q.6. Besides belief in Allah, name some examples of believing in the unseen. Ans: Angels, Devils, Jinns, Day of Judgment and Prophets. Q.7. List three things in our life that we do not see but we know that they exist. Ans: Gravity, Sadness, Shocks, air, electricity, etc.... Q.8. Why do you think some people believe in these worldly unseen aspects, but do not believe in God? Ans: It is because of their ignorance, lack of thinking, misguidance and family background. Because of foolishness and lack of wisdom and trust. Because of doubtful and suspicious nature. Because of their interest and love for this world. Most important of all is lack of Allah's blessings and mercy on them. Because they are away from the right path, this creates doubts in their minds.

Ans: Allah is in the Heavens on His throne.

Q.3. If a confused person asked you, "where did we come from"? How would you

answer him or her?

Ans: If a confused person asked us, "where did we come from", we will say that Allah

first created Adam from a kind of clay. Adam was the first human to be created. Then

Allah created the first female human from Adam. All human beings are the

descendants of Adam and Eve.

Q.4. Why did Allah create us? Support you answer with evidence from Al-Quran.

Ans: Allah has created us only to worship Him. As Allah says in Quran:

I created the Jinn and Mankind only to worship me.

Q.5. What is the Arabic word for believing in One God?

Ans: The Arabic word for believing in One God is Tawheed .

Ans: The three important ways of believing in One God are:

(1) Tawheed-ul-Khaliq

(3) Tawheed-ul-asmaa Was-Sifat

Tawheed-ul-Khaliq : is Believing in the One True Creator.

Tawheed-ul-Ibadah : is worshiping the One True Creator.

attributes of Allah.

UNIT - A CHAPTER THREE THE UNIVERSE SPEAKS TAWHEED Answer the following questions: Q.1. Harmony in the creation of the universe leads to the belief in One God. Give two examples. Ans: We must think deeply about the world and our purpose (Tafakkur). This is a form of worship. The world is in perfect harmony with the plan that Allah has set for it. For example, the trees give off oxygen and take in carbon dioxide. Animals need this oxygen and they give off carbon dioxide. The universe performs in perfect harmony without colliding. Q.2. Reflect upon how man's creations and Allah's creations differ. What are some examples? Ans: Man does not create from nothingness but Allah does. Man's creations frequently contain errors that are seen and unseen. Man is dependent upon Allah for knowledge and even for the breath, energy and intellect that he takes to make these inventions or so called creations. It is all by Allah's permission. Q.3. What is the percentage of oxygen, nitrogen, and carbon dioxide in the air? Ans: The earth is 77% nitrogen, 21% oxygen and 1% carbon dioxide and other gases in the atmosphere. Q.4. What is the brain made up of? Ans: The brain is made up of the nerve cells and brain controls every aspect of the body. It sends signals through the nerves to certain parts of the body and makes them work. Q.5. How did Alah create our ears in a special way? Ans: The most basic function of the ear is hearing and the major functions of ear are sound detection, hearing allowance and balance maintenance. There are many annoying sounds, like circulation of blood in our body and the revolution of earth. Allah has made our ears in such a special way that we do not hear such annoying sounds. Q.6. Explain briefly how does the water cycle work? Do you think it could just happen by chance? Ans: when the temperature cools off the moisture, (this moisture) turns back into the oceans and the water starts evaporating due to the heat of sun that goes up to the sky in the form of moisture. This moisture cools off and falls down in the form of rain. Q.7. What are the differences between Atheism, Polytheism and Monotheism? Ans: Atheism: means no belief in God. Polytheism: means belief in more than one God. Monotheism: means belief in only one God.

Q.8. How does reflection about the universe leads us to believe in only one God? Ans: Tafakkur- : Thinking deeply about the universe, learning more and more about Allah by understanding the power of Allah through His signs , make us believe in only one God.

Q.1. Give an example for each of the three different beliefs in God and how the universe is controlled. Support your answer with an ayah. Ans: In the creation of Heavens and the Earth, and the alternation of night and day, there are Signs for wise people. Those who remember God, standing, sitting and lying on their sides, and deeply think about the creation of the Heavens and the Earth, (and say), "Our Lord, You did not create this for nothing." Q.2. Briefly explain how the following examples were created to bring us harmony, balance, and comfort. Support your answer with an ayah. Ans: Planet Earth: is in perfect balance with 77% nitrogen, 21% oxygen and 1% carbon dioxide and other gases. The Ear: God has created our ears perfectly and we are able to hear the sounds around us without experiencing any difficulty. The Human body: is designed in the best form. Allah says that we created man in the best form with physically and cognitive power. Night and Day: Allah has created night for us to sleep and to take rest while He made the day to do work and see things. The Stars: shine brightly, travel in perfect harmony without touching each other within the space fixed for them. The water cycle: The sun heats up the waters and the water evaporates, goes up with the warm air to the sky, becomes cool and falls down as rain. The Brain: The brain is made up of billions of nerve cells, and enables us to identify the color, taste , voice, etc.

Identify and write in both English and in Arabic the hadeeth or ayah associated with each question below. Q.1. In which ayah or hadeeth does Allah show us the miracle of hearing and sight?
