Emphasizing that they are living just like people and need air, water, food and shelter.Dramatic Play- we will encourage the children to pretend to have a pet and take care of the pet or what would happen if the pet gets sick.Blocks the children will be encourages to replicate the homes of pets. For example, they can make a dog house.Science- the children will work with colors to create new colors. We will then talk about other animals and their home. Today we will show the children a picture of birds. We will remind the children of the turkey that we learned about during thanksgiving, is a bird as well as a penguin and pigeon. We will discuss what they do and where do they live. Dramatic Play- the children will be encouraged to Create animal homes and what the food they eat. What do animals need to make them happy?Science- the children will work with colors to create new colors. We will talk about how bear looks and sounds and what they like to eat. Then we will discuss what happens every winter with a bear, they hibernate in their den.Science- the children will work with colors to create new colors. Today they will use green and red paint to make different shades of brown.Blocks- Students will be encouraged to create a den and pretend to be a bear and hibernate in the den.Math- the children will create a pattern using different color homes.Sand and water/ sensory- we will Share with the children that some people live on boats. This type of boat is a houseboat. Fill the Sensory Table with water and add toy boats. Invite children to pretend the boats are houseboats. We will show a picture of a barn and discuss who takes care of these animals and how they are different than pets that live in our house.Blocks- children can use blocks to create a farm and add animals, food they grow and people who live on the farm.Dramatic Play- The children will pretend they are taking care of a farm. They will decide which animals they have and how they need to care of them.Math- the children will create a color collage. We will let the children name some wild animals and then figure out where they live. We also discuss the differences between wild animals, farm animals and pets. Sand and water/ sensory - the children will put the colors they created with the paint in a bag. Then they will practice writing their names.Fine Motor- the children can use Lego to build the different animal homes we discussed this week. They can also discuss how they are similar or different. Science- Pet or wild animal? Children will sort the pictures into two groups- animals that live in homes (pets) and wild animals.Math- the children will sort the different colors they find in the classroom. Then by looking they will decide which colors they found the most.Literacy/ Library- The children will choose a book and identify words that start with the letter z. They will write it down and draw pictures besides it.Writing- the children will use the writing folder or the children will practice writing their names.Art- The children will be encouraged to create their favorite wild animal. The boy puppet helps the girl puppet after she gets hurt playing. Introduce Words for this week: HelpingSong: The Caring and Helping Song (Track 15)Brain Builder: Play the Lost and Found game: Using a musical instrument such as a bell or drum. Have your students close/cover their eyes and use their listening ears. Then have a TA play a sound on the instrument. Ask students to keep their eyes closed and to point in the direction of the missing drum. Have students open their eyes did they find your TA with the missing drum. Yes! Great job using those listening ears. Let’s play again.Play a few more rounds having your TA with the instrument move to different spots in the room once students’ eyes are closed.Tuesday 12/15Story & Discussion: Use the picture on the poster to share a visual of the story that you are discussing with students. Today's story is about?Susie and Jayden. Review how Susie is feeling by looking at the picture. Jayden wants to help Susie feel better. Jayden listens to Susie. Review how listening is a way to show you care about others and their feelings and that because Jayden listened to Susie he can help her fix her problem.Wednesday 12/16Skill Building Activity #1:?Have children sit. Then introduce the Boy puppet. Write down their ideas on a piece of paper that they can see throughout the day. - If students are slow to provide ideas suggest some and see if they agree and think about some ways, they might do them. Read the ideas back to the children and have each of them pick one to do that day. Make a note of each of their choices.?Have them use self-talk and repeat the choices they made. And if you see an opportunity in the classroom for them to be helpful help remind them.
