The Schluter? Virtual House

A home is more than a roof over your head. It is a place to raise a family, entertain friends and relatives, practice your favorite hobbies, cook your signature dishes, and relax in a hot bubble bath.

As a leader in the tile industry, Schluter?-Systems develops the best products to ensure the functionality, durability, and comfort of home.

The Schluter? Virtual House is a state-of-the-art educational website that allows you to navigate through the rooms of a house in a three-dimensional interactive environment and discover a variety of tile installations and applications.

Each tile project offers you three sections: LEARN, CHOOSE, and BUILD.

The LEARN section is the educational portion of the Virtual House that you should visit before starting your project. This section contains videos and documents on tile-related subjects such as uncoupling, waterproofing, substrates, and the benefits of using tile.

The CHOOSE section is the interactive showroom where you can select the appropriate products for the project you have chosen.

Once you've learned about your tile project and chosen the materials you'll need, you are ready for the BUILD section where you'll find installation videos and tips to complete your project.

With these three simple steps, the Schluter? Virtual House helps you become the master of your tile project.

Moisture Resistance

Chemical Resistance

Stainless Steel: Can withstand high levels of mechanical stress, and is especially suited for areas of application where resistance to chemicals and acids is necessary.

Solid Brass: Can withstand high levels of mechanical stress, making it ideal for transitions subjected to heavy traffic, including exposure to wheel loads (for example: carpet to marble in hotel lobbies or industrial settings). Brass is resistant to most chemicals commonly used in tiled environments. Note: While solid brass is highly resistant to most common chemicals, it will oxidize, resulting in a natural patina. In areas exposed to moisture or aggressive substances, heavy oxidation and spotting may occur. Common brass cleaners can be used to clean the profile.

Mill-finished Aluminum: Provides effective edge protection for residential and light commercial applications where minimum exposure to moisture and chemicals is expected. Cementitious materials, in conjunction with moisture, become alkaline. Since aluminum is sensitive to alkaline materials, it is important to remove mortar or grout residue from visible surfaces.

Anodized Aluminum: The anodized layer creates a durable finish that retains a uniform appearance over a long period of time. Anodized aluminum provides added protection against the corrosive effects of moisture. Any anodized finish is susceptible to scratching and wear.

Color-coated Aluminum: This pretreated aluminum is color-coated with a polyurethane powder coat. The coating is color-stable, UV-resistant, and suitable for exterior use. Not suitable for corners or transitions subjected to heavy mechanical stresses (for example: at step edges or floor transitions).

PVC: Moisture resistant. Made of rigid PVC, which resists bending or scratching. It is also UV-resistant, though not permanently color-stable, in exterior applications. Not suited for corners or transitions subjected to heavy mechanical stresses (for example: at step edges or floor transitions).

Schluter? Integrated

Joint Spacer

Tile or Stone

1. Select the height of profile (H) according to the tile thickness (ie. 3/8" tile = 3/8" profile).

2. Press the perforated anchoring leg of the profile into the tile adhesive and align. Trowel additional adhesive over the leg.

3. Set the tile flush with the profile. The integrated joint spacer establishes a small, uniform joint (approximately 1/16"), to be filled when grouting.
