Intro to the World Map

In this ebook we introduce the World Map to you and then take you in to the Continents and the Regions in them. Once you are familiar with the Continents and the Regions, you can get in to learn How To Draw the Continents and How to Remember Each and Every Country. Altogether, we would look at 25 Regions and 193 countries which are recognized by the UNO. This ebook is an introduction to the "Memorize the World Map" ebook and we also provide an excerpt showing you the exact method for memorizing the World Map. To get the entire Package with each of these 25 Regions in detail, go here:

Basic World Map

The World Map has two main parts (and a small piece). Only two? Well, if you look at a glance you would see two great masses of land (and one smaller piece at the right bottom). These two masses are

1. the Americas comprising a. North America and b. South America and

2. three continents joined together viz a. Europe b. Asia next to it and c. Africa below

3. then the small piece, Australia to the right bottom 4. and finally Antarctica at the very bottom. It is actually the

South Pole (it has no country on it)

World Map with ANTARCTICA and the Equator

We have shown these continents thematically on the map above.

The continents are shown as rectangles so that you get the positioning right. Once you know how the Americas are stacked up and you can also see that these three great Continents viz Europe, Asia and Africa are actually joined together, you are on your way... let's go further.

We have shown Antarctica at the very bottom. In the actual Globe, it is the white cap at the very bottom of our Earth, it is the South Pole. It is a very large land mass, and thus we must call it a Continent. But the fact remains that there are no countries on it, only a few Research Stations, where scientists stay off and on to conduct experiments.

Also look at the horizontal line through the middle of the map. It is the EQUATOR. And wherever the Equator passes, the regions are one of the hottest on this planet. Note that the Equator for the most part passes through Oceans and crosses through the continents of South America and Africa.

World Map-more Accurately

Now we will draw a more accurate map so as to make you familiar with the actual shapes of the continents: and here you are:

Now, please notice that both North and the South America look somewhat like a Triangle.

Europe is sort of a rectangle above Africa

And Africa can be conceived as a combination of a rectangle above a triangle

and Asia is slightly more complicated with three land masses jutting out on the south and the eastern most coastline is slanted upwards.

We will deal with each of the continents one at a time and our purpose would be to identify each and every country on these continents exactly in place.

But before moving on, let us identify the Oceans, the water bodies that surround these land masses

THE OCEANS

ATLANTIC OCEAN

First take the Americas On the right is the Atlantic Ocean and To the left is PACIFIC OCEAN

But water bodies are always located between two land masses. So, ATLANTIC Ocean lies between the Americas and the Europe-Africa land mass i.e. the entire left coast or, to be precise, West Coast of both Europe and Africa has Atlantic Ocean washing ashore and likewise the entire right coast or the Eastern Coast of both North America and South America has again the Atlantic Ocean next to it.

Look also at the ARCTIC OCEAN on top and the SOUTHERN OCEAN at the bottom

INDIAN OCEAN

Now look at Asia It has a land mass jutting out in the South, located centrally and it is a country called INDIA

And just south of the Indian peninsula lies the INDIAN OCEAN [A Peninsula is any land mass jutting out into the sea],

The same ocean wafts the shores of Africa as well as Australia The eastern (or right) shores of Africa and The western (or left) shores of Australia

PACIFIC OCEAN

PACIFIC OCEAN is the largest and to understand its vastness we have to turn the globe around and keep it in front. You will see that the entire circle that you can see is one big Ocean, Pacific Ocean with its two boundaries, Asia (and Australia) on the left and the Americas on the right

In fact people of China, Japan and some other Asian countries turn the globe around and look at a World Map which has the Pacific Ocean at its centre.
