World War II Research Project

Objective: To create a poster detailing the importance of an individual, group, or event from World War II.

Posters will be due to me no later than the end of the school day Tuesday February 22, 2011. No late projects will be accepted. If at any point you have any questions or concerns it is your responsibility to contact me. E-mail: john.hoffman@appo.k21.de.us

Your poster should be visually appealing and include text, pictures, and/or artwork. A complete listing of works cited should be included with your project. Wikipedia will not count as a citable work. All work should be your own. Plagiarism will result in a “0” on your project.

If you are researching a person you must at minimum include the following:

Biographical information

- Birth: where, when, to whom?

- Family

- Education

- Death

- How did the above biographical information influence the later activities of your individual?

Activities

- What did this person do?

- What events were this person involved in that was important during WWII?

Impact

- What impact did this person have on the war?

- How is this person remembered?

- In your opinion is that an accurate recollection?

If you are researching groups you must at the minimum include the following:

Organization information

- Founding: where, when, why?

- Members

- Is the group not around anymore, what caused their demise?

Activities

- What did this group do?

- What events were this group involved in that was important during WWII?

Impact

- What impact did this group have on the war?

- How is this group remembered?

- In your opinion is that an accurate recollection?

If you are researching an event, you must at the minimum include the following:

- Where did the event take place?

- What was the significance of the event?

- Who was involved in the event? (countries, individuals, groups)

- What was the lasting effect of the event on the war? Postwar?

- Describe the event in detail. Use maps, photographs etc. to fully describe the event.

If you would like to propose an alternative assignment, please see me with your idea. A proposed assignment will require the same amount of information and research as the poster. Your assignment will be due February 22, 2011. Feel free to get creative and come up with an idea that will motivate you to do well. ALL PROPOSED ASSIGNMNETS MUST BE APPROVED BY MR. HOFFMAN. If your assignment is not approved it will not be accepted.
