Predictive Services Discussion: Dry and breezy to windy conditions are likely to continue over much of the central and southern Plains into mid next week. Elevated to critical conditions are possible across west Texas and the Big Bend Saturday. Elevated to critical conditions are possible across a broader area of the southern Plains early to mid-next week as winds increase further and relative humidity lowers. Periods of strong winds are also likely over portions of eastern Wyoming into central Montana this weekend and again for mid-next week.

After a brief break in the wet weather for the West this weekend, another series of low-pressure systems will affect the West next week with periods of heavy rain and mountain snow from central California northward into the Northwest. Inland, across the northern Great Basin and Northern Rockies, heavy mountain snow is likely with periods of lighter valley rain and snow. A strong cold front will move through the Mississippi Valley to the East Coast today into the weekend with widespread rain and snow for portions of the Great Lakes and Northeast. Severe thunderstorms are possible Saturday across the Southeast with Arctic air behind the front for the Northern Plains. Drier weather is forecast for much of the eastern US next week with the Florida Peninsula seeing little precipitation for the next seven days.
