COURSE DESCRIPTION:

World History is a survey of people and nations of both Western and non-Western civilizations. This course explores the political, cultural, and economic heritage of civilizations from the time of recorded history to present. Concepts and skills in problem solving and critical thinking are developed.

TEXT: World History: Patterns of Interaction, McDougal Littell, 2006.

COURSE REQUIREMENTS:

1. Students must keep a 5 subject spiral notebook with pockets (World History Playbook)

2. Students must be on time for class. Remember the tardy policy!

3. Students must come prepared with a pen/pencil, notebook, and textbook.

EXPECTATIONS:

1. All students are expected to be ACTIVE participants in this class. You can NOT be an active participant in this class if: you are asleep, you are in the hallway or bathroom, you are using your cell phone. Please remember why you are here.

2. All students are expected to be cooperative and respect each other (and each others’ opinions and things).

3. All students are expected to take pride in the classroom and school.

4. All students are expected to follow all rules and procedures printed in the Pebblebrook High School student handbook.

VALUE STATEMENT:

GRADING:

Unit One: SSWH1 &2 10%

Unit Two: SSWH3&4 10%

Unit Three: SSWH5, 6,& 8 10%

Unit Four: SSWH 7 &9 10%

Unit Five: SSWH 10, 11, & 12 10%

Unit Six: 13, 14 &15 10%

Unit Seven: 16, 17, & 18 10%

Unit Eight: 19, 20 &21 10%

Final Exam 20%

HOMEWORK POLICY:

Homework must be completed on time for the maximum amount of learning to take place. It is your responsibility to keep up with each assignment. If your absence is excused, you have the number of days you were absent plus one to make up the assignment for full credit. Points will be deducted for work that is turned in late (after it is collected). Alternate assignments may be given.

Late Policy:

All work is expected to be turned in on the due date assigned by the instructor. Any assignment turned in after the due date, will receive twenty points taken off. If a student is absent on the due date and has an excused absence, he or she has the amount of days absent plus one to return all missed assignments. (Please see the Attendance section of the student handbook)
