Predictive Services Discussion:

Dry and breezy conditions will continue in portions of the Southwest onto the West Slope, with dry and breezy conditions reemerging over the southern Great Basin and southern California deserts Sunday. Dry conditions are expected across portions of the Great Lakes into the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic, with breezy to gusty winds from the Dakotas into Minnesota. Strong to severe thunderstorms are likely on the High Plains, and thunderstorm coverage will expand eastward on the Plains through the weekend. Isolated to scattered thunderstorms are forecast in the central and northern Intermountain West, including possible flooding due to heavy rain and snowmelt causing high water levels in streams and rivers. Thunderstorms will continue on the Florida Peninsula, but coverage will shift to South Florida over the weekend. Isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms are likely from northern Mississippi into the southern Appalachians today and tomorrow, while thunderstorms and showers will expand from the Carolinas' coast inland to parts of the central Appalachians and Mid-Atlantic. Flood Watches and Warnings will continue across parts of Alaska, especially in the eastern Interior, for snowmelt and ice jams through tomorrow. Cooler temperatures and showers are expected across much of Alaska into the weekend as well.
