Pulling an all-nighter might seem ideal, but your brain and body will not perform?as well if you're sleep deprived.Prioritize?your study time. The level of difficulty is different for every exam. Be strategic with your time during finals and study accordingly based on level of difficulty, weight of the exam, time allotted, and any other relevant factors.Read more about study strategies for finals week?here.??Students Share Favorite Study SpotsAfter surveying some students, we have created a list of some favorite study spots on campus. These tips can give you the knowledge and confidence you need to avoid common scams.?Fake Check Scams? The most common check scams begin with one of these situations:You sold an item online and the buyer overpays.Surprise! You “won” a prize for a contest you didn’t enter. You’re overpaid as a “secret shopper.”You’re hired to do small jobs like dog walking and are paid too much.In cases like these, the person who sent you a check will ask you to send back money or buy gift cards to cover the amount you were overpaid, or to cover extra “fees.” After that, you find out the check you received is not real. As a result, you lose ernment-Themed Scams? In most cases, you’re contacted by someone claiming to be from a tax or a law enforcement agency. They warn that you’ll be punished for not paying fees or fines and tell you to transfer money elsewhere. In these scenarios, you’re tricked into giving away money.?Sublet Scams? If you’re subletting your apartment, you might be contacted by an “interested renter” who sends you a check for more than the amount of the security deposit and the first rent payment. Then they’ll ask you to send the extra “overpayment” money back to them. This is a scam, because the check they sent you is not real.?Common “Warning Signs”?You can outsmart scammers by watching out for the following:Someone overpaying when they send you a checkPeople asking you to provide access to your accountPhone calls, text messages or emails requesting personal information, or to click a linkWhat to Do?Take these steps to defend yourself against these and other scams:Stop and ask questionsDon’t send fundsNever provide your online banking user ID or password, or your debit card PINSeek financial advice/supportBy keeping these tips in mind, you’ll be in a much better position to protect your finances and personal information.right000Note: This information is for educational purposes only.?It should not be considered legal or financial advice.??Are you getting enough Sleep??As finals season approaches, many students will struggle to find time to leave the library and get a full night's rest.?7-9 hours?of sleep is what a college student?needs.?Sleeping is the body's way of resetting after a long day and it allows us to rebuild cells, refill our energy sources, and retain memory. For students, remember that the all-nighters at the library won't help unless you are able to rest and retain the information. Without sleep you are more stressed, less focused, and more prone to sickness- all things that will slow down your study capabilities!?For more information on how to track sleep cycles and how to get better rest, visit UHS's website?here.?
