c. synthesis—answer the same questions as above

d. add as an addendum to the portfolio self evaluation essay--

2 timed essays—one a rhetorical analysis and one either an argument or synthesis that you would have selected to rewrite attempting to score as 9’s. You should select your lower scoring essays to revise and improve.

Type a list of items you would have revised on this essay to improve it to be in the 7-9 range and staple to the top of the original essay.

4—What have you learned about yourself as a writer this

semester?

5—What has helped you most as a writer in this class?

Required *** Include quotations from your writing where

appropriate—you are writing an analysis of

your own writing. The lack of this is what pulled most grades

down last semester—think of it as a rhetorical analysis of sorts.

Print the self evaluation portfolio essay with the two rewritten lists ideas essay attached to their D#1s and place on top of all essays in portfolio. Be sure all semester 1 essays are clipped together, so the only essays that are loose are 2nd semester’s. Otherwise,

essays in portfolio should be ordered with the most recent on top and the oldest on bottom. Place this handout on top of the entire stack so it is the first item one sees when opening the portfolio.

• Complete the literacy cards for the novels read in the 2nd semester.
