Introduction

Your introduction is a very important part of your paper

It not only gets them interested in the rest of your paper

But it gets them thinking about what you will discuss

1st: start off with some interesting statement, question or story

2nd: Introduce your basic topic

3rd: Present a brief summary of what OTHERS say about your topic (the opposing side)

4th: Now present a brief summary of YOUR side of the topic

5th: Finally, you have your THESIS which tells the reader the main arguments you will present in the paper

Once you have all those parts written,

Get out a piece of paper

and put it all together in one huge paragraph

Conclusions

Conclusion is a very important part of your paper

You don’t want to have a brilliant paper and then end it in a horrible, boring way

Leave them thinking about how good your paper was!!!

1st: Connect back to the quote, story or statement you started the intro with

2nd: Summarize your basic topic again

3rd: Present a brief summary of what OTHERS say about your topic and why you said (previously) that they were wrong

4th: Now present a brief summary of YOUR side of the topic—RESTATE your thesis in a new way

5th: Finally, end with some inspirational statement or story

Once you have all those parts written,

Get out a piece of paper

and put it all together in one huge paragraph
