Lab reports MUST be typed. 12 pt font and TNR, Arial, or Calibri font is acceptable. All parts of the report should be properly labeled. Please adhere to the following guidelines.

Title Page with the following information: (this is your cover sheet)

Name of Experiment

Your Name

Date and Block

Problem: A scientific question an investigator seeks to answer. (this starts page 1 of your report)

Hypothesis: A preliminary possible explanation to an observation. “If, then because …”

Experiment:

Independent Variable: What is being changed or tested in the experiment.

Dependent Variable: What is being measured.

Constant(s): These aspects of the experiment stay the same throughout the investigation.

Materials: List out the materials in column form. Include every material used in the experiment.





Procedure: List the procedures exactly as you followed them. Be sure to NUMBER each step.

Data: This is where you will include how you collected your data. Perhaps you used a chart to record

your data. If so, you will put that chart here. Remember this is NOT A GRAPH!

Results: You take the data you collected and organize them appropriately (graph-form).

Conclusion: Written in paragraph form, answer the following questions in your conclusion:

What was your hypothesis? (Restate your hypothesis)

What were your results?

Does your results support or does not support your hypothesis?

What could you have changed?

Were there any problems in the experiment? If yes, discuss them.

What was learned in the experiment?

Your report should be neat, legible, organized, and easy to understand. Remember, when others read your lab report, they should be able to clearly understand everything you did in your experiment, and exactly what your results were. Please email me if you have any questions.
