Advance Algebra/Trig. And Agricultural Pathway Scatter Plot Project
1) Come up with a topic of your choice related to your agricultural pathway to collect data on two correlated items data needs to be approved by math teacher and agricultural pathway teacher. For example: Time (years) vs. Food poisoning (number of people). Or, hours of labor to build a house and cost of house.
2) Collect data on your topic. You must have at least 10 data points. For example: For the Food poisoning example you could find data on the number of people each year between 2000 and 2010. For the labor example you could survey 10 construction companies that built the same type of house.
3) Create a table of the data using Excel or word. (Make sure the table has an independent and a dependent label).
4) Create a scatter plot of the data using Excel.

5) Describe the type of correlation found on your scatter plot. Find the line of best fit and draw it only the graph.
6) Select two points from the line of best fit and find the prediction equation. Work needs to be shown.
7) Predict a data point that is not on the graph. For example, use the line of best fit to predict how many people would have food poisoning in the year 2020. Work needs to be shown.
8) Make a project report showing all of the information including cover page, the topic, table, the type of correlation, the graph of scatter plot with lines of best fit drawn in, the equation of the line of best fit and what you predicted using the data, instructions, and rubric, graphic organizer with notes.
9) Due December 2, 2015. (This will be a math artifact for your portfolio).
