Golf carts offer the benefit of running off rechargeable batteries instead of burning fossil fuel, but the batteries eventually require replacement. If you have a 36-volt golf cart that runs on six 6-volt batteries, you can replace them with three 12-volt batteries, which often are easier to find. Disconnect and remove the six 6-volt batteries from the golf cart. Arrange the three new 12-volt batteries in the battery compartment of the golf cart so that the jumper cable can span the distance between the positive and negative terminals of adjacent batteries.
