Credit Recovery

Twilight School (Meade High School)

Twilight School allows students at Meade High School to make-up credit they have lost in particular classes. These classes run after school on Monday/Wednesday and Tuesday/Thursday and last one full semester. Students can register for these classes at the beginning of each semester, and there is a fee required.

Secondary Summer School (AACPS)

The secondary summer school program offers students a limited number of secondary school courses and provides students the opportunity to make up work in which they were unsuccessful, improve grade averages in sequential subjects, and earn credits to meet high school graduation requirements.

Evening High School (AACPS)

The Evening High School is an alternative high school instructional program. Anyone who is under 21 and interested in completing a high school education may attend, as well as students currently enrolled in a regular daytime high school program. Students under the age of 16 must be currently enrolled in the regular daytime high school program to attend Evening High School. Credits earned by successful completion of courses in Evening High School count toward fulfilling requirements for obtaining the Maryland High School Diploma. Potential students, over the age of 21, should contact the Evening High School Center of their choice to determine if they qualify for Evening High School.

Keystone Credit Recovery



Keystone Credit Recovery is an effective and proven way to help students earn middle or high school credits in courses they did not pass the first time around. The courses are self-contained, independent study units designed to supplement your school's existing curriculum. Students can enroll year-round in our licensed, accredited and academically challenging program.

Youth Empowerment Service's Life Coach Academy is a Private Day School licensed by Virginia Department of Education providing alternative educational services to students who may be exhibiting disruptive behavior, truancy, and failure in the traditional school setting as demonstrated by repeated long term suspensions, expulsion, poor grades and attendance problems. Recognizing the need to provide continuing learning opportunities for these students, Youth Empowerment Services developed an intervention program to influence the educational and social outcomes of students at risk of long term failure.

Life Coach Academy serves children and adolescents with emotional disturbance, behavioral disturbance, and/or mental illness in a structured special education and treatment program. Our philosophy is that all students have the capacity for learning and growth, regardless of their disability. The goal of the program is to provide students with the skills necessary to return to a less restrictive school environment. This includes having healthy relationships with adults and peers and functioning effectively in school and society.

Job Corps is the nation's largest career technical training and education program for students ages 16-24. Students can earn a high school diploma, a GED, or college credits through Job Corps. They offer career technical training in more than 75 careers. Students receive housing, meals, basic health care, a living allowance twice a month, training and preparation for a career all at no cost to you.

Freestate ChalleNGe Academy APG, Maryland, 21005 410-306-1804

The Academy is a tuition free program which offers at-risk adolescents16 to 18 years old(some 19 year olds may qualify) an opportunity to change their future in many ways, culminating with the opportunity to obtain a Maryland High School Diploma. The initial program consists of a 22 week residential phase during which cadets will learn self-discipline, leadership, and responsibility. Participants live and work in a controlled military environment, which encourages teamwork and personal growth. A 12 month post-residential phase consists of helping to enroll students in continued education, technical school programs, or entry-level employment. During the post-residential phase, students are assisted by at least 1 trained and matched mentor from the community for post-graduate development.

Milton Hershey School is a private, residential school for children pre-kindergarten through 12th grade who come from a family of low income, limited resources, and social need. Admissions Criteria: Come from a family of low income, limited resources, and social need, be from the ages of 4-15 years old, have the ability to learn, be free of serious emotional and behavioral problems that disrupt life in the classroom or the home, be able to take part in the School's program, be born in the United States.

KidsPeace Multiple locations Residential centers located in Pennsylvania

KidsPeace provides education services for day and residential pupils at 6 locations in Pennsylvania for grades 1? 12 who are seriously emotionally disturbed, diagnosed with mental retardation, learning disabled, developmentally delayed or exhibit learning problems, psychological distress or divergent behavioral problems. Also, KidsPeace Schools are accomplished at providing premier alternative education programs for students who are unable to achieve success in their home schools. For years, KidsPeace Schools have been meeting the educational requirements of clients in grades 1?12 placed by Boards of Education from the states of Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, West Virginia, Maryland, Illinois, Delaware, Virginia, Maine, Georgia and the District of Columbia.

For more than thirty years the Chesapeake Alternative School has served young people (between the ages of 13 and 19) in the greater Baltimore area, who are involved with the Department of Juvenile Services and the Department of Social Services. Students accomplish academic goals, explore the world of work, and practice ways to interact positively with the community. In this alternative setting students are involved in various Maryland State Department of Education accredited curricula:

Anne Arundel Workforce Development Corporation

Provides GED assistance and career exploration for students out of school ages 16-21. They also have programs that provide apprenticeships, job training, workshops on job skills and resume writing.
