Guidelines for setting Exam papers (F.1-2) 2008-2009

|Paper I: Composition (70 marks) Time allowed: 1 hour |

|(a) Paper setters are suggested to ask candidates to write the text genres they have learnt. e.g. personal letter, story, diary, |

Notes for F.1-3 Paper Setters

1. Suggested mark allocation for tasks of different level of difficulties:

Easy tasks: 15%-20%

Medium tasks: 65-75%

Difficult tasks: 10-15 %

1. In order to help students revise for the exam, form convenors are responsible for preparing the “Scope for Revision” for the whole form.

3. Paper setters should provide the form convenors with the scope for the specific paper so that he/ she can consolidate the components for the whole form.

4. Paper setters are required to fill in the “Questionnaire for Paper Setters” and attach it to the question papers for circulation or submission.

Guidelines for setting Exam papers (F.4-5) 2008-2009

|Paper IA: Reading Time allowed: 1 hour |

|Follow the CE format. |

|THREE reading texts of different lengths and levels of difficulty. |

|Candidates will be required to respond to a range of question types, including multiple-choice items, short responses and more |

|extended open-ended responses. |

|Remarks: Tasks should NOT be chosen from the sample papers/ past papers provided by HKEAA. |

|Paper IB: Writing Time allowed: 1½ hrs |

|Follow the CE format. |

|The writing tasks should be thematically related to the reading texts. |

|Task 1: Short & guided (100 words) |

|Task 2: Longer & more open-ended (220-250 words) |
