“PROMISES” PROJECT

THE PAST IS A PROMISE

V1:

Will there be a next time when I need some mercy

Will grace be sufficient, oh how will I know

The next time my heart is broken will it be mended

Well I have a promise that tells me it’s so

Chorus:

I just go back to the moment He saved me

I just go back to every prayer He’s answered for me

Then I don’t have to worry about my next blessing

The past is a promise I’ll have all that I need

V2:

Did He deliver Moses did he comfort Elijah

Was David a part of this promise to me

Did God’s son rise out of Judah

Did He walk up Golgotha

The past holds the power of His promise to me

He’s all I need, He’s all I need

Then I don’t have to worry about my next blessing

THE BEST THAT I CAN DO

V1:

I asked the man have you made your plans for heaven

He said I have no guarantee to make it through

I said to save your soul on what are you depending

He said I’m trying to do the best that I can do

V2:

He began to share how he’d been fair to his neighbors

Seemed He always had a helping hand to lend

But nowhere was there mention of a savior

No payment or provision for his sin

V3:

So I said dear sir, may I share for just a minute

how I got my guarantee to make it through

I first confessed that I was just a sinner

Cause that my friend was the best that I could do.

Chorus:

Yes the best that I could do was trust in Jesus

The best that I could do was call him friend

Noble deeds of mine couldn’t satisfy the debt I owe to Him

So the best that I could do was just

Believe that Jesus came and died to satisfy the debt I owe to Him

V4:

Oh my friend, have you done the best that you can do

Would you trust Him now before it is too late

When we’re at our best, we still are less than right and true

The debt we owe is a debt we cannot pay

THE VOICE OF FALLING TEARS

V1:

Lord I don’t even have the words to say

And I honestly would not know where to start

But even when my efforts are in vain

Somehow my tears explain to you my heart

Chorus:

You hear my voice, when I can’t even say a word

When I can’t speak, my silent cry your ears have heard

For I know you’re somewhere watching

And you see each tear that’s falling

And to you the message of each drop is clear

For Lord you hear, I’m glad you hear

The voice of falling tears

V2:

Each teardrop speaks of loved ones gone astray

They tell of broken dreams of yesterday

Tears explain to you the heart of every man

This language only you can understand

Bridge:

When earthly words get in the way

Of this miracle I need

I just bow before your throne

Where once again my teardrops intercede

Repeat chorus

BE NOT AFRAID

V1:

Rocked by waves and howling winds

And the storm that threatened them

The disciples sailed a boat on Galilee

They were tired and full of fright

They had fought the storm all night

Then the master came ‘a walking on the sea

Chorus:

Be not afraid, for it is I, in the 4th watch of the night

You’ve fought and prayed but I am here and it’s alright

The storm will rage, the winds will blow

But they are under my control

It won’t be long till morning breaks

Be not afraid

V2:

Hope seems gone the day is done

And the night is pressing on

Doctors said that they’ve done all that they can do

Around the clock the family prays

But helps already on the way

Without a doubt another doctor’s in the room

HE NEVER EVEN LOOKED AT THE MAN

V1:

Walking towards the temple, in his finest clothes

The time of year had come for sin to be atoned

The law required a payment only blood could satisfy

The lamb he brought would have to give its life

His sins had been so many surely nothing could suffice

Then the priest fixed his eyes upon the sacrifice

Chorus:

He never even looked (looks) at the man

He only examined (examines) the lamb

Carefully, deliberately, (lovingly) judging it’s acceptable

But he never even looked (looks) at the man

V2:

Wanting to come forward, many in the crowd

Focus on the altar they’d like to come but how

Their sins are overwhelming, and works cannot atone

But the Father in His mercy, has made a way back home

The spirit does the calling, Says the finished work is done

It’s only through the sinless blood of Christ alone

Bridge:

God can see our failures, He knows them great & small

So on the cross he placed the lamb

A sacrifice, once and for all

HE IS GUIDING ME

V1:

I am not alone on my journey

I have a sovereign Father who is watching over me

He’s leading every step, I’m walking with His help

As if I were the only one in need

Jesus is guiding me

Chorus:

That’s why every day gets so much brighter

As I walk the path beside

The one who gives abundant life so I can clearly see

Oh, even when the darkness closes

I have found that Jesus knows just

Where I am and where I’m going

He is guiding me

V2:

Through the years I’ve found Him to be faithful

Never have I walked this long and winding road alone

Down unfamiliar paths, no matter where I’m at

On sunny days or when I face the storm

Jesus keeps guiding on

THERE IS

V1:

There was no hope for sinners, in this wicked world below

No lamb upon the altar, could wash us white as snow

There was no human worthy, to lay aside a crown

So from the Holy Heights of heaven, God sent Jesus down

CHORUS:

And now There Is a sacrifice for sin, there Is Amazing Grace

There Is change that comes within, each time a sinner prays

There Is a cross that's blood-stained, but the story does not end

For There Is a tomb thats empty, and its the only one There Is!

V2:

I still don't understand it, I still can't comprehend

The love the cross demanded, as it paid for all my sins

I don't claim to have the answers, to the problems here below

But when it comes to God and sinners, could I tell you what I know?

HE BLED, HE DIED, HE ROSE

V1:

We’ve heard the great commission, to go and spread the word

But sometimes our confession, falls short of what we’ve heard

We need to simplify it, and make the message clear

The good news of the gospel, is all they need to hear

Chorus:

He bled, He died, He rose to live again, three nails, one cross,

Remind us where He’s been,

To reach the lost, you’ve got to preach the cross, til the whole world knows

Tell it everywhere you go, He bled, He died, He rose

V2:

Go tell your friends and neighbors, how you have been redeemed

Tell your brothers and your sisters, the reason why you sing

It’s really just that simple, and worth it if you try

If we’re ever gonna reach them, we’ve got to testify

I’LL LIVE IN GLORY

V1:

I’d like to stay here longer than man’s allotted days

And watch the fleeting changes of life’s uneven ways

But if my Savior calls me to that sweet home on high

I’ll live with Him forever, in glory by and by

Chorus:

Oh yes I’ll live in Glory, by and by, I’ll tell and sing love’s story, there on high

There with my dear Redeemer, no more to die, oh yes, I’ll live in glory, by and by

V2:

The end I know is nearing, by faith I look away

To yonder home supernal, the land of endless day

I’ll cling to Him forever and look beyond the sky

And live with Him forever in glory by and by

THE LIGHT OF THE LAMB

V1:

This world is full of trouble, seems like everywhere we go

We’re living ‘neath the shadows of much sorry here below

But soon we’ll see His splendor like we’ve never known before

Oh, we’re waiting for the day, when dark of night will be no more

Chorus:

The light of the Lamb will shine brighter than the sun

The Great I Am will welcome us, we’ll hear Him say well done

For ten thousand years we’ll sing his praise

As if we’ve just begun

Oh, the light of the Lamb, oh the light of the Lamb

Yes, the light of the Lamb will shine brighter than the sun

V2:

A day will last forever, in that city over there

And what a day as finally we lay down our every care

It’s the end of every shadow, end of every hidden thing

As we stand together in the brilliant glory of our King

WHAT CAN I DO FOR YOU

V1:

Lord, when I think of mercy and when I think of grace

When I recall the many joys you’ve given me each day

When I stop and realize, you’ve been my strength time after time

I bough my head in thankfulness, for the blessings you’ve supplied

Chorus:

After all you’ve done for me, what can I do for you

You’ve given everything I need and you’ve always been true

Every time the load gets heavy, you’re there to see me through

After all you’ve done, what can I do for you

V2:

My prayer dear Lord is use me, show me your will and I’ll obey

Wherever your hand leads me, I will follow all the way

When I stop and realize, you’ve been my strength, time after time

I bough my head in thankfulness, for the blessings you’ve supplied

Repeat chorus

I MUST TOUCH JESUS

V1:

She pressed her way through the crowd, though she had grown so weak

She had now spent everything, and hope was gone it seemed

But she kept her eyes focused on the Master just ahead

And I believe the crowd that day, heard these words she said

Chorus:

I must touch Jesus, I must touch His hem somehow

For a miracle awaits me, when at His feet I bow

I will be made whole and every need I have He will supply

I must touch Jesus, while He is passing by

V2:

This trial that you face my friend, seems too much for you

And you feel the world is closing in, with no one to run to

Oh but lift your eyes and you’ll find, Jesus passing by your way

And just like that little woman, reach out to him in faith

Repeat chorus
