`Twas yesterday we parted, The one I love and I; I stayed on earth ? he entered Those mansions of the sky, Where all is joy forever And tears are wiped away; Where God's most holy presence Outshines the brightest day.

`Twas yesterday we parted, And though he left me here The Savior stood beside me My saddened heart to cheer He gave me sweet assurance That, by His wondrous grace, The one I love so dearly Now sees God's blessed face.

`Twas yesterday we parted ? He did not say "Goodbye," For well he knows tomorrow We'll join him in the sky. Oh precious Lord we praise Thee For grace so freely given, For though we part ? Tomorrow We'll meet, with Thee, in heaven.
