THINGS TO DO ... (complete all that apply)

______1. Check-in at the Navy Lodge, CBQ or approved commercial hotel.

______2. Relax.

______3. Check-in at your Command’s Personnel Office.

a. Shore Commands: Personnel Support Detachment (PSD) Bldg. 1555 1st Deck.

b. Afloat Commands: Family Assistance Support Team (FAST) ), 2nd Floor, Bldg. 3365 if you are accompanied and your unit is at sea.

c. If your ship is deployed, also check in at the Transient Personnel Unit (TPU) Bldg. 1969.

d. Civil Service Employees: Human Resources Office (HRO) Bldg. 1472

______4. Attend Newcomers Brief (if eligible for Housing) in the Housing Welcome Center Conference Room,

0800-0930, any Monday-Friday (exception: 1st Wednesday of the month.)

______5. THEN Check-in at the Welcome Center (Housing Office).

a. Place yourself on the on-base housing waiting lists.

b. Receive folder with house hunting procedures and tips.

______6. Stop by the DBIDS (Defense Biometric ID System) office at the Main Gate (ISO/Pass & ID office) and register yourself and all eligible family members. Registration is required for scanner-based access to all military installations in Japan. (Documents required: Official PCS Orders; Family Entry Approval; Common Access Card (CAC) or family member ID card).

a. USCS civilians may provide a Letter of Employment in lieu of PCS orders.

b. If the service member/sponsor is deployed, family members may still register.

______7. Check in with the Inbound Personal Property Office, Bldg. 5013 (before 3rd tunnel on Rickert Drive, heading toward the NEX AutoPort). Hours: 0800-1600, M-F.

______8. Visit the Fleet & Family Support Center (FFSC), 4th Floor, Bldg. 3365

Hours: M-T-W-F 0800 – 1630; Thursdays 0800 – 1500

a. Sign up for the Area Orientation Briefing & Intercultural Relations (AOB/ICR) mandatory indoc.

b. Sign up for the “Your Japanese Home” class (recommended/optional if you will live off base)

c. Find out about the Home Visitor Program (recommended/optional if you will live off base)

d. Check out our Employment Assistance and Computer Based Training Center.

______9. Attend the optional “Yokosuka Employment Overview”, scheduled twice each month at the FFSC, to find out about employment opportunities on and off base. Check the current FFSC calendar for dates and times.

______10. Have fun and explore the base.

______11. Place children on the waiting list for full time care at the Main Child Development Center (CDC), Bldg. 4300; phone 243-3219. The Main CDC is on Duncan Street, near the Navy Lodge and the Housing Welcome Center.

______12. Set up child care at the Hourly Child Development Center, Bldg. F-68, phone 243-7730/3219, or through the Child Development Home (CDH) Program, located in the MWR Bldg., phone 243-5478, for any FFSC classes you are going to attend, as well as for house hunting appointments.

______13. Check with the Youth Center for After School Care for your school age children, Bldg. 1115, phone 243-3439 or 243-5492.

______14. Take your passport to NAVPTO Passport Office, 1st deck PSD Bldg., to get your passport stamped with the multiple-reentry stamp. This should be done within 14 days of your arrival. The PSD Passport Office is closed on Wednesdays.

______15. Explore the Commissary, Exchange and off-base shopping areas.

______16. Take school aged children’s medical records to the Immunizations Clinic at the U.S. Naval Hospital to have shot records transferred to the official DoDDS Forms. Hours are: 0800-1130 and 1300-1530 Monday-Friday; closed on Wednesday.

______17. Take family member medical records to the U.S. Naval Hospital for check-in at the Medical Records Office.

______18. Check-in at the USNH Dental Department. Family members should sign-up for appointments now or inquire about the current procedures for scheduling their next check-up date.

______19. Go to Sullivan’s School office to register all Elementary School students, grades K-5.

______20. Go to Yokosuka Middle School office to register students in grades 6-8.

______21. Go to Kinnick High School office to register all HS students.

______22. Verify mailing address: Shore Commands ( through your command.
