The Internal Audit Division provides audit, advisory and investigative services to TIAA. As part of the Audit team, a qualified candidate will be required to apply technical and analytical skills to a variety of Risk Management functions. The role will have the chance to contribute from day one by presenting findings to Management and collaborating with other experienced professionals. In addition, the candidate must have experience in leading an audit team through the risk assessment and planning, scoping and execution of audit engagements, along with the communication and reporting of audit issues to the Senior Management. The candidate will have to identify and helps lead analysis of the risks inherent in our business, evaluate existing risk management controls and collaborate with management to develop solutions, as needed.

Description

This position will function at a Manager of Internal Auditor level. Demonstrates excellent knowledge of Internal Audit Professional Practices, Risk Management and

Internal Controls in the development and implementation of the annual risk-based audit plan and related scheduling and budgeting. Develops plans relative to the implementation of the internal audit function's overall goals and objectives. Regularly interacts with executive and senior management, peers and internal and external auditors firm wide. Interactions frequently involve special skills such as negotiating with management or attempting to influence senior level leaders regarding matters of significance to the organization. Creates formal networks involving coordination among groups. Assists external auditors in annual review of accounting records and resolves problems or discrepancies encountered. Provides consulting support to management regarding how best to improve internal controls and remediate noncompliance conditions. Uses research, professional experience, emerging risks, and past audit reports to determine areas of priority for internal audit review. Plan and conduct complex internal audits under the general direction of management and consistent with auditing standards, professional practices, schedules and any related statutes. Produce a quality end-product that clearly documents the audit work performed, which meets or exceeds the division standards while adhering to schedules and due dates. Demonstrate good judgment in evaluating the results of audits and in developing and presenting remediation solutions where control weaknesses have been identified Lead professionals and work collaboratively and independently on unique or special assignments which may require specialized knowledge and/or experience. Supervise, review, approve and provide guidance on the work of staff. Mentor team members, as needed, and provide performance and skill assessment to Manager on an ongoing basis. Recommend and implement changes to methods of performing audit work, as deemed appropriate. Comply with Company, Division and Professional ethical standards. Evaluates the effectiveness and efficiency of the internal controls and ensures compliance with regulatory guidelines firm-wide. Oversees audits and participates in key advisory projects. Strong written and verbal communication skills to deliver high quality, actionable feedback to client management on control issues and potential solutions to close gaps.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or other relevant areas of study. Prefer relevant professional certification (e.g. CPA, CFA, CIA, CIDA, CFE, CFSA, CISA, CMA). At least 6 years of experience in auditing, finance, accounting, operational risk, or relevant business area. Extensive experience and knowledge of risk management, including but not limited to: Credit Risk,

Market Risk, Operational Risk, and Enterprise Risk Management, and asset management and capital markets industry Exposure to regulators (i.e., FRB, OCC, SEC, FINRA, etc.) Demonstrated time management and project management skills. Good team skills including experience in managing teams, and building effective team interactions, providing timely and constructive feedback, and negotiating issues and resolving problems within the team and the Firm as a whole.
