(Je suis aide éducatrice dans un lycée professionnel, et je fais réviser les BTS avec cette méthode, l’épreuve d’anglais se passe de la même façon pour tous les BTS (sauf pour les BTS bilingue, trilingue évidemment !), excepté le thème des textes qui correspond à la profession étudiée). Maintenant, j’exerce dans un lycée professionnel de Londres.

Lors de l’oral, l’examinateur nous donne un texte qu’on doit expliquer pendant 10 minutes, ensuite l’examinateur nous pose des questions dessus toujours pendant 10 min, tout ceci doit se passer à la manière d’une conversation.

Je vous conseille tout au long de l’année de vous faire une liste de mots de vocabulaire, classes par thème du social, de la vie quotidienne en général.

Pour présenter le texte :

1. What is it? (an article, an extract from a novel…)

2. Who is the author ?

3. Where does it come from?

4. Is there any pictures? What do they show?

5. What is it about?

6. Is there any statistics?

7. What do they mean?

8. What is the outcome?

9. What are the causes/consequences…?

10. Can you think of another way to solve the problem?

Enfin, si jamais le thème du texte ne vous inspire pas et que vous n’arrivez pas à finir les 10 min, je vous conseille de parler de vous, vos études, votre travail, vos stages… Cela permettra au jury de voir que vous savez parler anglais, même si c’est un peu raté pour le texte, le jury appréciera !

Voici quelques questions personnelles auxquelles vous pourriez être amenés à répondre !

Attention, ne répondez pas uniquement par oui par non, mais faites des réponses complètes.

I don’t go to school; I do distance learning (par correspondance)

I do sandwich courses (en alternance)

11. How do you go to school?

I go to school (or to work….) by car, by bus, by train…

It takes me 15 minutes, 1 hour and a half

Avant de répondre, demandez-vous quel type de réponse l’examinateur attend de vous (comme cela même si aucune des questions ci-dessus ne vous sont posées, vous connaissez les différentes tournures).

Vous pouvez tout aussi bien parler de votre stage ! On peut aussi vous le demander !

You can talk about your work placement/work experience:

2. What kind of structure was it? (an association, a company…)

3. Where was it located?

4. What were your duties/role?

5. Where you working on your own, or in a team?

6. Were you working part time or full time?

7. What was your time table?

8. What kind of client group (public) were you working with?

9. What were doing your colleagues?

10. Did you have any problem during your work experience?

11. What did this experience bring you (in a personal way as well as in a professional way)/what benefit did you draw from it?

12. In the future, would you like to work in this kind of structure?

Enfin, voici quelques mots de vocabulaire qui pourront vous aider:

HNC (Higher National Certificate) in Social and Family Economy = BTS en ESF

A-Level = Baccalaureat

Social worker = travailleur social

And so on and so for = etc… (très utile quand vous énumérez quelque chose mais que vous n’avez plus d’idée ! ;-))
