INTERGRATION & TIMELINE

INTERGRATION & TIMELINEI hope to bring the events of above into affect at their given time, meaning that Velocity will be concrete by the end of the academic year, pending meetings and further conversation. I would like, but am not limited to, the instating of Momentum and Kinetic to occur by the first of the year, after having conversations with Stu on Wed. Oct 12, 2011; Stacy Phillips on Thursday Oct 13, 2011; and a parent meeting tentative for Oct. 30, 2011 after church; Janet Nevin [date pending]; and the next scheduled CE meeting. Vision Statement: The COTC Youth is centered to influence the next generation toward a lasting relationship with Jesus Christ, and through that relationship be transformed into a new creation.?All programs are to be designed to be discipleship-focused, sustainable, and Christ-centered. The reality of a true disciple is one that devotes his whole life to living for Christ, actively seeking out the truth through learning the Word, applying it to his daily life and living out his faith. Mission Statement: COTC Youth must fully commit to participate in Christ’s ministry in the local community and throughout the world (Matt. 28:19-20).?We believe God has placed a special call in this congregation to reach out to the young families of Washington, and to help them to develop strong family relationships with one and another and with our Lord Jesus Christ.OUTCOMES IN MINISTRYAt least one missions trip in the youth’s experience during the time of 6th-12th grade.Biblical literacy, or a keen knowledge of the bible:Knows the books of the bible, who wrote them, what are the themes, some key stories of each, some key memory verses of each. Each student before leaving in their youth experience will have at least been involved with five service projects of different types such as, but not limited to:Local mission trip projectsAt church service projects Entire church service projects such as mission weekend (Oct. 1 &2)Other service projects or service seminars to make a clear understanding of why we as a church body / we as Christians are called to serve. Yearly retreats, Youth Conferences, etc. Have a basic understanding of theological tenets/traditions of both Christian and Presbyterian faith. Have a basic grasp of concepts like: Presbyterian historyWorshipDiscipleship idealsRelationship (spiritual, relational, physical) with ChristKnowledge/ability/ comfortably of prayer AND the ability to pray out loud. Ability to express the gospelHOW DO WE MEASURE THOSE OUTCOMES Yearly assessmentsRecords kept of everyone who was involved in service projects, mission’s trips, etc. Personal involvement / relationship with kidsQuarter annual Youth and Parental advisor meetingsBuilt-in curriculums aimed for Bible experience or vocational experienced outcomes. To impact the students over the course of rising 5th – 12th grade: Retreats such asThe Big oneMission Extreme May Concerts 30hr Famine Youth Conferences Mission trips Local summer Mission tripProgressive dinners Youth SundayVelocity Retreat2x Special HS events only / 2x Special MS events only1x Girls & Guys night 4x (one each season) Group Worship experiencesFocus of Youth Group Taking from Romans 12:2, which I believe is the pinnacle point of Romans in which Paul impacts the whole of his message about our faith as disciples that IF we have been justified through the death and resurrection in Jesus Christ, then we have died to sin and have been born again through life in Christ whereby we are a new creation (2Cor. 5:17)! There by which offering our bodies as living sacrifices we are transformed by the renewal of our mind. Taking that idea, “transformed, changed, a new creation” the change of the youth group is that we will put a new focus on the over all youth group: “Transformed” Through justification in Christ then, the action of transformation in our hearts changes us from the inside out, and the active Holy Spirit dwells in us providing us with a Holy Energy. God’s action upon us then is like electricity, transferring spiritual energy from the ‘source’ (God) to us and impacting our lives. The impact of TRANSFORMATIONAL on Sunday SchoolThis could mean that we have the freedom to enhance in the way we think about engaging in youth ministry, as this service time will be the focus or centrality of the whole youth ministry instead of the educational part of the day which is what it is now. When the main service ends, the youth begins. That doesn’t mean that we are going to have a band, or a worship time, or a traditional service, rather we turn ourselves inwardly into a state of worship, discovery, message, and prayer. Taking from what previously have worked:breakfast an opening TREY game /ice breaker Media Lesson small group The conversion would look something like breakfast [before] service began OR none at all, an opening sign in, TREY, fun ice breaker --Discovery An element of prayer. -- PrayerAn activity based around the lesson (geared more toward praise) –Discovery/Worship A multi-media HOOK –Discovery/messageA small ten minute sermon (lesson) –Message A reflection of some kind (such as game, activity, small group, etc) --DiscoveryA group closing Prayer. –PrayerThis means that there would (unless in a special event such as small group activity) the groups of MS and HS will not be separated, building unity between the two age groups. The identity as said is the central of the Youth Group, but will be tied directly to the youth nights, thus its name will be “Momentum”, as it is the consuming of discipleship. Momentum as by definition is:A vector quantity that expresses the relation of the velocity of a body, or physical system, to its energy. The direction of the momentum of a single object indicates the direction of its motion. Momentum is a conserved quantity (it remains constant unless acted upon by an outside force). driving power or strengthMomentum then defined in a spiritual sense is: A single force of God in relation of the velocity of our Praise as the body of Christ –a physical system, to its energy. The direction of the momentum of the will of God impacting the community indicates the direction our ministry will be in motion. We are a surge of divine power that comes as a direct link to our father and Lord; meaning that if any object is to come in contact with us they will experience a transfer of spiritual energy that will bring the force of God. (Matt. 28:19-20, Acts 2:38-39, Gal. 6:2, Titus 2:6-8)The Impact of TRANSFORMATIONAL in Youth Group NightsWith the core of the youth established as the instructional or discipleship focused part of the youth ministry, the Youth Nights will be outfitted into an outreach or outwardly focused ministry used to reflect Momentum, put it into an active practice, and grow the youth. The name of it is “Kinetic” in which it reacts to the Momentum stored in the service before. Kinetic as by definition is:The energy possessed by a system or object as a result of its motionThe living action of energyKinetic then as defined in a spiritual sense is: The spiritual energy possessed by the youth as a result of the momentum stored up in the morning service, and released through its directional motion from the Holy Spirit. It is the living action of Christ’s impact on the student’s lives. Kinetic then as defined by its relationship with the Service Momentum: A high energy reflection of the Momentum serviceA focus group devoted to application of the “equipping message” (in momentum) into their real daily lives. A time to engage in service projects, mission-outreach, building of youth, relational ministry, growth ministry, etc. What this would look like in a form is a group meeting from 6-8, for both groups in which there would be a structure similar to: A hang out time, sign in, snack time, announcements, small minute to win it games, etc. Going down to the covenant center and playing large games, doing the service project, going to an outside event, larger event, field games, etc. --HOOKReflection Message (referring again or in addition to the Momentum Message), core night activity, multi-media, Q/A, etc. --BOOK A split into small groups of MS and HS or at times girls and guys to do small group talk and conversations, or activities pertaining to focusing/finding practical ways to bring the lesson into daily life. -- LOOKA regroup in which they final reflect questions or after thoughts, a time to close up the lesson in some form, any things to give to the group, and then to pray. The Impact of TRANSFORMATIONAL into the BIG events:“Velocity”The Idea of Velocity is a special group that will form at the end of the academic year for 5th graders who will become 6th graders. It will be a special time for specific discipleship in preparation to joining the youth group. Velocity is defined as: A measure of the rate of motion of a body expressed as the rate of change of its position in a particular direction with time. The rate of speed of action or occurrenceThe speed and direction of motion of a moving bodyVelocity in terms of the Youth group then would be: A time in which we can teach the new parents the direction that their kids will be going, as well as the students themselves (a time of Adjustment). To assess and develop some basic biblical and spiritual skills that will be necessary in Momentum and Kinetic. At the end of the session before Rally day, or school begins, there will be a Velocity Retreat, in which the new 6th graders, and the current younger middle school will go through a time to jump start the new year and finish the course. It will be a Friday-Saturday event at the church that will look similar to: An over nighter A set of seminars, a time of meeting with / getting to know the youth advisorsHanding out biblesA time of worship both musically, and prayer shed A time of service projectA relational ministry element for games and group activitiesA celebration of the group ................
