Welcome to navigation with TomTom

This User Manual explains all you need to know about your new TomTom VIA. To learn about getting started with your device and installing it in your vehicle, we recommend that you read the Get going chapter. After that, you will probably want to connect to TomTom services and you can read all about that in the Connecting to TomTom services chapter. To help you avoid traffic delays and get to your destination quicker, you can use TomTom services even on the routes you drive every day. Once you've had a look around your new VIA, connect it to Wi-Fi? and see if any new updates are available to install. We're always improving our maps and software, so check regularly for updates. In Quick Search and Step by step search, you can read all about how you can search for addresses, Points of Interest and Contacts. Both types of search give the same result, so choose the type of search that you find easiest to use. For information about what you see on the device itself, go to What's on the screen. To plan your first route, go to Planning a route.

Tip: There are also frequently asked questions (FAQs) at support. Select your product model from the list or enter a search term. We hope you enjoy reading about and, most importantly, using your new VIA!

Advanced Lane Guidance in a split screen As you approach motorway exits and junctions you can now view map guidance and lane guidance side-by-side in a split screen. To learn more go to Advanced Lane Guidance in this User Manual.

Quick search and Step by step search You can now choose between two different ways of searching for an address or a POI. To learn more go to Choosing which search to use in this User Manual.

Quickly report a speed camera or risk zone You can now tap the speed camera or risk zone symbol in the speed panel to report a speed camera or risk zone. To learn more, go to Reporting a new speed camera or Reporting a risk zone in this User Manual.

Read aloud traffic messages Your device now reads aloud traffic messages about traffic events on your route. To learn more go to Sounds and Warnings in Settings in this User Manual.

Additional features in Hands-free calling The following new features are now available in Hands-free calling: You can now reply to a missed call with an SMS. You can now change the volume for phone calls. You can now call back from an SMS. Time stamps have been added to missed calls and incoming messages. Set a lower brightness when using night mode You can now set a lower brightness when using night mode.
