Thursday 14th January – P4Cosmic Kids Yoga – The Masked Singer! That was hard work. Have a drink and get ready for maths.IntroductionWarm up your brain by playing a classic version of the numbers Countdown game. Spend about 10 minutes playing. Generate new numbers if you solve it. This is the same as we would do in class.Use a pen & paper or whiteboard to help you if you wish. Or challenge your mental maths skills by trying to work out the solutions in your head.I have included 2 links. The 1st is the one we use in class. The 2nd is one that can be used on a phone / tablet. – Desktop or Laptop.Click the lock in the address bar to enable Flash. Choose your desired difficulty. Turn off the timer by clicking the stop button. - Phone or Tablet.Choose 1 or 2 numbers from the top row and the rest from the bottom or press Quickstart. Click on the cog in the top right to increase the difficulty level.MainLearning Intention (LI) – I can divide.Yesterday we had multiplication word problems. Today we also have word problems, but they are all about dividing. Remember dividing is splitting something (or a big group) into smaller parts. We will begin this lesson in the same way we began yesterday. Practise counting forwards and backwards. Do this 2 or 3 times for each number. You might not be able to do all of them yet, but with practise you will!Count forwards and backwards:in 2s to / from 24.in 5s to / from 60.In 10s to / from 120.In 3s to /from 36.In 4s to / from 48.In 6s to / from 72.Once you have done this there is a written worksheet for you to complete; Mild, Spicy or Hot. See below if you are not sure about which one to choose.Whichever you choose, it is very important to read the question carefully. I would suggest reading it 2 or 3 times to make sure you understand what you are being asked to do.Please remember that I do not expect people to print out the worksheets. You are welcome to if that is possible at your home, but if you are like me and don’t own a printer you should copy and complete them onto a sheet of paper. Just like we would do into our jotters in school. However, don’t worry if it’s not the same kind of paper that we have in our Maths & Numeracy jotters.Extra info:Choose the page that is best for you: (think about how confident you are with you counting forwards and backwards)Mild – If you’re thumbs across.Spicy – If you’re in between thumbs across and thumbs up.Hot – If you’re thumbs up.If you find the “Mild” task very easy then you could try the “Spicy” or “Hot” task. If you find the “Hot” task too tricky then you could try the “Spicy” or “Mild” task. When you’re finished check and correct your work using the appropriate answer page. It will be at the end of your questions. That is our Maths and Numeracy lesson finished for today. Well done!Refuel! Now would be a good time to have a snack and a drinkERIC stands for Everyone Reading In Class. You may choose to read a few pages of your chapter book, or maybe a family member could read you a story.Literacy - Reading & WritingIn our Literacy today we are going split our time between reading and writing. You will need your Active Learn log in details for this. If you have lost yours please contact the school.Your 1st task is Reading51955704381500We are first going to look at some poems. I have allocated you the book “Christina Rossetti Collected Poems” book. Read pages 1, 2 & 3. On pages 2 & 3 there are poems about nature. Looks at the words the author (Christina Rossetti) has used to describe the different things. The 2nd task is WritingI would like to you choose something from nature. It can as big as a tree or as small as an ant. Anything that is alive and lives outside.Draw a picture of it on a piece of paper. You can use anything to draw and colour it. Around your picture write some words that would describe it. Think about how it looks, sounds, feels, smells or even tastes like. Using our senses is a great way to describe things. You could think of wintery words to make it realistic. If you can, try to write a short poem (about 8 lines) about what piece of nature you have chosen. Use the words from around your picture to help you. That is our Literacy lesson for today. In our lesson today we are going to practise some Spanish greetings and how to name some of our feelings in Spanish. There are 2 PowerPoints to work through.Spanish – Day and MonthsSpanish - WeatherPractise saying this new vocab. Don’t worry if it feels strange or different because speaking these new words will help you remember them. After practising the words there is an activity for you to complete. You could do this by yourself or with a family member / friend. That is our Spanish lesson finished for today. What a busy morning! Time to refresh our brains and bodies.Move onto the next page when you have finished your lunch. From Ms Finlayson.Learning IntentionI know that sometimes we fail and make mistakes and that is ok.Success CriteriaI can talk about a time where I have made a mistake but it has been ok.Watch can choose to do 1, 2 or 3 of the activities below.ActivitiesMistakes!!!!Think about a time when you made a mistake.Fold a piece of paper in half.On one side draw or write a short paragraph about what your mistake was.On the other side draw or write who and how it was ok after.Did someone help you?Did you learn something from your mistake?Beautiful OopsThis book shows us how we can create something new and beautiful from a mistake. you create something wonderful from a doodle, a scrap of paper or a blob shape?Share your fantastic creations. The AssemblyRemember the assembly about having a goal and we looked at famous people who had failed before succeeding. Can you find out a bit more about a famous or successful person who has suffered setbacks? Can you make a poster about that person? finish the lesson, watch this story about a girl who never made mistakes!“Home!
