Reception – Spring 1Week 2 CinderellaNumber 12Phonics & Reading*Spend five minutes a day reading your books from school or one of your books from home. Talk about the illustrations, characters and what is happening in the story. *Phonics: This week we are focusing on recapping the sounds ‘y’, ‘z’, ‘zz’ and ‘qu’. You can access some of the free resources on Phonics Play by following this link: *Log onto your discovery education account and there will be some videos for you to follow with Mrs Mannering. Join in with speed sounds, quick write, the new sound and making some words. - Choose ‘Phase 3 set 1-6’. Can you blend the sounds together to read the word? Is it a real word or a fake word? – Tricky word song! Using your story map from yesterday can you have a go at writing some key words such as dress, mice, pumpkin, clock, prince onto your story map and send it to us either by email or tapestry.WednesdayAssignment on Discovery Watch the little video of the Ugly step sisters. Can you think of some words to describe the sisters? Are they kind or mean? Is he handsome, kind or smart?Friday Use a piece of paper or write on the work describing the characters if you did not complete it using Discovery. Choose 2 adjectives for prince charming and put them into a sentence e.g. He is kind and smart. Write another sentence for Cinderella… She is pretty and happy. Can you put them in order from 1-12? Now have a look at a clock. What numbers do you see? Remember the large minute hand has to be on twelve Parents – throughout the day on the o’clock ask your child to read the clock and see if they know the time. Thursday Watch the o’clock video again. Can you draw pictures of what you do during the day e.g. 7 O’clock wake up, 12 o’clock lunchtime, 6 o’clock bath time 7 o’clock bedtime.Friday Draw your hands on your clock and write what you do at that time.Play some more Ten Town games for number 12.
