2019 Summer Testing Top 10 - Microsoft

Dear Spartans, It's game week! With the introduction of 0 week, our first game is extremely early. This week we will travel to Mansfield, Texas to play Timberview High School in the second annual Border Brawl. Mansfield has five high schools in their district and they partner with Bixby, Jenks, Union, Broken Arrow and Sand Springs. Last year all five Mansfield district schools traveled to Tulsa to play. This year, all five Tulsa-area teams travel to Mansfield to play on Thursday, Friday or Saturday.

Last year, Tulsa area schools won four out of the five matchups, but many were extremely close games. This year, the matchups look great. The Timberview team we previously played went three rounds deep into the 2018 UIL playoffs and were eliminated by eventual 5A State Champion Highland Park. Timberview has 18 returning starters and 11 of those have division 1A scholarship offers. It will be a great test for us.

Last week, we executed the Bixby Fall Classic. The event was a huge success, partnering with our cheerleaders, to create a great environment. We began the night with freshmen scrimmaging, then JV and Varsity and finished the evening with three half games. We defeated Mustang 28-0 in one half and edged Enid 14-0 with some of our younger players. Overall, we came out healthy and got many excellent reps!

August Update continued from pg. 1

We have been very proud of the way our 2019 squad has prepared. In 2010, when I started at Bixby, we put the quote "If I had 8 hours to chop down a tree I would spend 7 sharpening my axe" on the backs of our shirts. That is a mantra our 2019 team has lived by. We have prepared hard in the off-season, summer and now pre-season camp. Our 29 seniors have shown great leadership ability.

You may have noticed that our field signs and sponsorship banners are going up in the stadium. Our first home game (Military Appreciation) is still a ways away, but the Quarterback Club is working feverishly to raise money and get our sponsorships up at the stadium. If you would like to join, or know a business who would like to sponsor, please let us know or sign up at . Our Quarterback Club provides the very best playing experience for our athletes each year, and gives back by giving qualifying seniors a minimum of $500 scholarship for college.

Bixby Spartan Football has a culture of continuous improvement. We are constantly striving to better ourselves and our program. Recently the district and the Quarterback Club partnered to repair our weight room floor and put down new flooring throughout the facility. The results are amazing. The Bixby Spartan Powerhouse is the best high school training facility in Oklahoma!

We are into our second week of school, and will be on top of our players' grades. As parents, please make sure you monitor your child's grades. Often times when students get into grade trouble it is a result of zeros or incomplete assignments. Making sure we do a great job with our academics is our number one priority.

Finally, thank you so much for supporting your Bixby Spartans. We invite you to come to our incredible game day atmosphere, listen to our games on the radio, or catch the weekly coaches replay show on Cox and YouTube. We look forward to a fun and successfully season! As always, thank you for your support.

Respectfully, Coach Montgomery
