2. Describe program activities and accomplishments during the month for each of the following types of activities:

1. Administrative Codes and Standards Program Manager recorded no extraordinary activities for the month. SAP data was reviewed for possible omissions and /or errors. In addition, budgetary information was reviewed for accuracy.

2. Marketing

Not applicable.

3. Direct Implementation

• Staff participated via webcast in the Blueprint and Rollout Strategy Team Public meeting in accordance with the Governor’s Hydrogen Highway executive order. A Blueprint for the Hydrogen Highway Rollout is scheduled to be submitted to the Governor by the January 1, 2005 deadline. Various Executive (non-public) Panel meetings from each of the five (5) sub-teams are scheduled for November and early December to assemble the final report for the Governor. The November 2004 meeting was a public meeting to present what progress has been made to date and to solicit input from the public. The entire Hydrogen Highway Blueprint project appears to remain on schedule.

• Staff met during November with the other IOU’s and the CEC in order to continue to pursue mutually beneficial CASE studies for 2004-2005. One (1) additional CASE study was initiated in 2004, bringing the total to two (2) for 2004. The goal is four (4) during the 2004-2005 timeframe.

• Staff met with new CEC’s program manager to continue work on Assembly Bill 549 to deal with energy-efficiency in existing buildings. Additional meetings will be scheduled throughout the remainder of the year. A final report is scheduled to be issued on October 1, 2005.

Training

Three code-related seminars were conducted during November 2004.

• Residential HVAC Zoning

This course reviews the equipment options and methodologies for residentially zoned systems. Discussion includes load calculations for each zone and determining the required components as well as application and sizing of bypass ducts.

The course was co-funded by the California Energy Star New Homes Program.

• Uniform Mechanical Code (UMC)

This course reviews changes to the Uniform Mechanical Code as they relate to the basic requirements for installation of central heating and air conditioning systems in residential applications. Topics covered include combustion air, venting, closet installations and attic installations of HVAC equipment.
