Physical Education / Physical ActivityDo a warm up before any other activity to help your body to be ready and prevent injuries.Alphabet warm up 2Spell out your name, school, street name, Interscholastics or some of your fry’s words.A stretch up high 20 timesN do10 star jumps B pretend to jump a rope 20 timesO do 20 arm circles C march on the spot for count of 12P reach for the sky for a count of 8D balance on your right foot for 10 countsQ gallop for a count of 15E balance on your left foot for 10 countsR flap your arms like a bird 10 times F jump like a frog 8 timesS wave up high for count of 10G do 15 star jumpsT circle arms for count of 10H do 5 bunny hops (feet to hands)U bend down and touch your toes 20 times I chop your hands for a count of 10V jump up and down 15 times J do 8 shuttle runsW walk like a crab for a count of 10 K hop 5 times on each footX hop 10 times on your left foot L reach for the sky for a count of 15Y hop 10 times on your right foot M jump up and down 12 timesZ reach for the sky for a count of 15Warm up with this 5 Minute Superhero Workout - watch?v=cvMbkw2572kThis is the one that was recommended by one of our pupils last week and it is fab! -49530174625Normally this event is just for P6 and P7 but anyone can get involved in our virtual event, even the adults!You can choose to take part in as many of the events as you like then send your results to @MrsMartinPECV on Twitter by Direct Message.We will announce the winners for each event and for each stage on Friday 29th May.THE EVENTS80 Metre Sprint - watch?v=Ps5g0hCluWMYou will need: A measuring tape or big strides to mark out 5 metres and something to time yourself with eg a mobile phone or watch.You must complete 16 runs as fast as you can of your 5 metre course = 80 metres.Send your time to @MrsMartinPECV.4 x 80 Metre Relay - watch?v=8OFxyKkUWtEYou will need: The 80 Metre Sprint relay course as above and more people to take part.Your team from your household must complete 16 runs as fast as they can 4 times. If like me you can only get 2 people to take part each person can run two times.Send your time to @MrsMartinPECV.600 metres - watch?v=b1Yu-tkZw5oYou will need: Something to time yourself with eg a mobile phone or watch.The current record for the 600 metres is 1 minute and 49 seconds. Your challenge for this is to run around any space you have or even just on the spot without stopping for 1 minute and 49 seconds and either send a video or photo of you taking part.Send your video or photo to @MrsMartinPECV. The best videos or photos will win this event.Sock Ball Throw - watch?v=q5b0_Vyx-HoYou will need: A measuring tape and a sock ball.Using an overarm throw your challenge is to throw your sock ball as far as you can.Send your distance thrown to @MrsMartinPECV.High Jump (Vertical jump) - watch?v=HC3VnBsTrJYYou will need: A ruler and some post it notes (or masking tape) or sticky tape and some paper.Mark where on your wall you can stretch to, then jump as high as you can and touch the wall. Measure the difference between where you start and finish and send to @MrsMartinPECV.Long Jump - watch?v=kN_X-EBJrHoYou will need: A measuring tapeMark your starting place, jump as far as you can.Send your distance jumped to @MrsMartinPECV REMEMBER - You can choose to take part in as many of the events as you like then send your results to @MrsMartinPECV on Twitter by Direct Message.We will announce the winners for each event and for each stage on Friday 29th May.OTHER ACTIVITIES TO STAY ACTIVE THIS WEEK…WalkingIf you can get outside for a good walk every day that is brilliant! I still love these Walks, there are lots of different ones and are great to get you moving or keep you moving indoors when you are stuck inside. I do at least one every day and have got lots of my friends and family doing them too. This is a 1 mile walk - watch?v=u08lo0bESJcJoe Wicks posts a new work out each day - watch?v=MXb1nU9T4ZQGive them a try, some of the moves are quite tricky but focus on having a go. If these are too tricky do any of the other ideas suggested here.Cosmic YogaLots of great stories to stretch and balance.
