Academic IntegrityCheating is considered a serious matter. The parents of a student who has been involved in cheating will be notified and the student will receive a grade of zero for the test or evaluation period, and a grade of U in conduct. For this course, cheating is defined as, but not limited to, the following acts:Copying anyone’s answers to questions, exercises, class work, test revisions, or homework assignments.Taking any information verbatim from any source, including the Internet, without giving proper credit to the author, rearranging the order of words and/or changing some words as written by the author and claiming the work as his or her own, i.e., plagiarism.Looking on another student’s paper during a test or a quiz or sharing information with another student. Having available any study notes or other test aides during a test or quiz without the teacher’s permission.Writing test and unit information on desks or any other item viewable to the student during a test.Collaborating on assignments when independent work is expected.Using cell phones, iPods, or other electronic device to send test answers or information to other students.Having a parent, guardian, family member, or friend complete research or assignments for you.Class ExpectationsBe on time and come ready to work. Not trying is not acceptable. Be respectful to the teacher and to your peers. Cell phones may only be used when the teacher has permitted them. Make-up workIn order to align with school policy, all make-up work must be completed within the number of days absent plus one day. For example, if the student is absent 4 days, they have five days for make-up work. Up until the work is turned in, the grade will be a zero to serve as a reminder that it is not completed. In regards to long-term tests and projects, if a student misses days prior to these they still have to take the test or turn in the project on the original day. There will be enough warning given by the teacher using the Remind App as well as the blog that the students will be aware of the test/project ahead of time. It is the student’s responsibility to get any missed work from their file at the front of the classroom. Late Work Policy: Late work will be accepted; however, for everyday that the assignment is late 10 percent will be taken off the final grade. If this right is abused, late work acceptance will be revoked.
