SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT COUNCIL MINUTESTuesday, November 28, 2017Mr. Sims welcomed the nine members present and reminded us of the school’s mission: To grow students to be readers, writers, and problem solvers so that they are college & career ready as adults. We then discussed AdvancEd Quality Indicators from Teachers and Staff. Clear Direction#7 – We might do a better job through newsletters, translations, & announcements. We can make a Banner of our mission statement and hang a picture in hallway of goals & mission. Have a contest of making up a chant about our mission to be said each morning with pledge of allegiance & moment of silence. Put mission on visitor pads/sign in sheet; possibly a school magnet with mission statement. Post our mission statement on district website. (). Prize Patrol= mission statement. Healthy Culture#11 – Scored lower on Parents, Families, & Legal Guardians of all backgrounds being actively involved in their children’s learning & school experience. We no longer have a Parent’s Night. Maybe we should have a computer Class – how to help your child read, a Math night, maybe a Parenting Class. Maybe join with a churchto offer Parenting Class.WATCH DOGS – We received fresh ideas from David Teachey who teaches at Wood. They are in 3rd year and now have 30 DOGS.
