Reading ~ Unit 2: Lesson 1 & 2
Students make connections to text based on personal experiences. Students will use their knowledge of Author’s Purpose.
Writing ~ Unit 2: Lesson 2
Students write brief compositions on topics of interest. Students continue writing stories based on personal experiences.
Social Studies Unit 5~Lesson 4:
TSW examine the qualities that make a good citizen. They use what they have learned about Sam Houston and Abraham Lincoln as a springboard to further examine good citizens. In this lesson students learn about Benjamin Franklin and the work he did for the good of all people; they look at other historical figures who, like Benjamin Franklin, exhibited individualism and inventiveness. Students also practice map skills by using cardinal directions.
Science Unit 3 ~ Lessons 1 & 2:
REVIEW: Students will develop basic understandings about light, heat, and sound. They will learn that these forms of energy are important to everyday life. Students will predict and describe how a magnet can be used to push or pull an object, describe the change in the location of an object such as closer to, nearer, and farther from and demonstrate and record the ways that objects can move such as in a straight line, zigzag, up and down, back and forth, round and round, and fast and slow.
Math Unit 6- Lesson 1
REVIEW: Students develop strategies for adding and subtracting whole numbers through contextual or story problems involving basic facts with sums and minuends up to 10, and record their actions using conventional symbols. Students experience the commutative property of addition and the part-part-whole relationships that exist among related fact families.
