"Festival Brikcius"
the chamber music concert series at the Stone Bell House (Spring & Autumn 2012)
You are invited to the introduction of new project "Festival Brikcius" - the chamber music concert series at the Stone Bell House, held in the cooperation with the City Gallery Prague this spring and autumn 2012, in exclusive location of the Stone Bell House, Old town square in Prague.
"Festival Brikcius" is divided into two parts (Spring & Autumn) containing three concerts, held every 3rd Thursday of given month at 7.30pm. (19 April, 17 May, 21 June & 18 October, 15 November, 20 December 2012). Every first concert is for solo cello, every second is for cello chamber music (with piano, with quartet, …) and every third is for two cellos.
1st issue of "Festival Brikcius" will feature Czech cellist František Brikcius, Czech pianist Tomáš Víšek and siblings cello chamber ensemble Duo Brikcius. Unique festival dramaturgy is focused on music by composers of the 17th, 18th, 19th, 20th and 21st centuries. Specially on compositions by Czech, "Terezín", Jewish and contemporary composers. Unknown composition of known composers, premieres of new and not yet performed music. Festival commemorates 220th anniversary of the birth of the Italian composer Gioacchino Rossini, 120th anniversary of the birth of the Swiss composer Arthur Honegger and 100th anniversary of the birth of the French composer Jean Françaix "Centenaire Jean Francaix - 2012".
"Festival Brikcius" is held, similarly as previous projects (e.g. "eSACHERe", "MAKANNA", "Duo Brikcius - 2 Cellos Tour", "Weinberger Tour", ...), as part of the Daniel Pearl World Music Days, commemorate the legacy of Jewish journalist and musician Daniel Pearl, who was brutally murdered by group of terrorist, defending the freedom of the speech.
One of the main aims of this project is to get friendly with musical evolution of the cello repertoire, support of contemporary composers, commemoration of "Terezín" authors, providing of music platform for endangered minority of classical music listeners, expansion of periodical listeners and fans from previous projects, above all introduce this kind of music to younger generation.
Tickets are exclusively available through official festival ticket sales Prague Ticket Office - Via Musica and cca 90 minutes before every concert available at the door. Thanks to the limited number of seats we strongly recommend early booking. Full prize: 400 CZK (advance ticket sales 380 CZK), student: 200 CZK (advance ticket sales 180 CZK), senior over 65 years: 200 CZK (advance ticket sales 180 CZK), sponsorship Fee 4 000 CZK (advance ticket sales 5 000 CZK).
