"Tools" are the core abilities of baseball players. For position players, there are five: Arm Strength, Fielding Ability, Running, Hitting Ability and Raw Power. For pitchers, the number varies: Fastball, Breaking Ball, Changeup, Other Pitch (if applicable) and Control.Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are: to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities, and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.GradeDescription60 YardDashHome to 1BRadar VelocityCatcher ReleasePre High School(Ages 12-14)High School(Ages 14-18)LHHRHH10Poor PHSN/A10.00 +7.00 +7.10 +50 -3.75 +12Well Below PHS AvgN/A9.80 - 9.996.76 - 6.996.86 - 7.0951-533.50 - 3.7415N/A9.60 - 9.796.50 - 6.756.60 - 6.8554-553.25 - 3.4918Below PHS AvgN/A9.40 - 9.596.26 - 6.496.36 - 6.5956-573.00 - 3.2420Poor HS9.20 - 9.396.00 - 6.256.10 - 6.3658-592.90 - 2.9922Near PHS Avg9.00 - 9.195.80 - 5.995.90 - 6.0960-612.80 - 2.8925Well Below HS Avg8.76 - 8.995.60 - 5.795.70 - 5.8962-632.70 - 2.7928PHS Avg8.50 - 8.755.40 - 5.595.50 - 5.6964-662.60 - 2.6930Below HS Avg8.26 - 8.495.20 - 5.395.30 - 5.4967-692.50 - 2.5932Solid Avg PHS8.00 - 8.255.00 - 5.195.10 - 5.2970-722.46 - 2.4935Near HS Avg7.76 - 7.994.90 - 4.995.00 - 5.0973-742.35 - 2.4538Above PHS Avg7.50- 7.754.80 - 4.894.90 - 4.9975-772.30 - 2.3440HS Avg7.36 - 7.494.70 - 4.794.80 - 4.8978-792.20 - 2.2942Well Above PHS Avg7.30 - 7.354.60 - 4.694.70 - 4.7980-812.15 - 2.1945Solid Avg HS7.20 - 7.294.50 - 4.594.60 - 4.6982-832.10 - 2.1448Excellent PHS7.10 - 7.194.45 - 4.494.55 - 4.59842.05 - 2.0950Above HS Avg7.06 - 7.094.40 - 4.444.50 - 4.54852.00 - 2.0452Outstanding PHS7.00 - 7.054.35 - 4.394.45 - 4.49861.98 - 1.9955N/AWell Above HS Avg6.91 - 6.994.30 - 4.354.40 - 4.45871.94 - 1.9758N/A6.86 - 6.904.25 - 4.294.35 - 4.3988-891.90 - 1.9360N/AExcellent HS6.81 - 6.854.20 - 4.254.30 - 4.35901.88 - 1.8962N/A6.71 - 6.804.15 - 4.194.25 - 4.29911.84 - 1.8765N/AOutstanding HS6.61 - 6.704.10 - 4.144.20 - 4.24921.80 - 1.8368N/A6.51 - 6.604.05 - 4.094.15 - 4.19931.76 - 1.7970N/ASuperior HS6.50 -4.04 -4.14 -94 +1.75 - ................
