I would like to give a shout out to Ron who called in. I think that he has a great idea in these troubled times! His plan is simple. Plant your own gardens in your back yards. This way you know exactly what you are eating and save money to boot. With the water shortages and California's Joke of a Governor Brown, you can expect higher food prices on everything you get at the market. Farmers have been told to cut back on 20% of their water usage. In turn for doing that they will have to raise their prices to offset the cost of doing business. That, and with the push to raise minimum wage to $15.00 per hour is what will finish off the economy in California. Personally, I think that would maybe be the best thing that could happen. Then and only then will the people see the reality that when you kill the "Golden Goose" there are no more eggs. It's ok! Maybe with a real food shortage and soaring prices the citizens will finally take note not to elect anymore buffoons to office to control your money, life and well being. Ron, did give me the names of two plants that were used during the "Great Depression" that was a staple in the diet of many people. It was grown in their back yards. Quinoa and Amaranth. You can look them up on the Internet. They are a grain, with better protein and nutritional values than our everyday grains that we are used to. It is worth the few minutes to research this topic. The other thing you can do is put in a small green house to grow vegetables that will do well here even in our winter months. The green house will protect the plants from the cold night air and frost. Thank you Ron for your input!! I hope that this will help some of the people that are having trouble making ends meet. It will require a little work at times. So instead of sitting at the kitchen table worry- ing about how your going to make it, simply go outside and start preparing for you own backyard crops. You can still worry, and at the same time be productive. I know that this week the editorial is not my normal ranting and raving. I'll be back up to speed next week. I would like to thank all the readers, even the ones that don't agree with me. I'm not trying to change your mind, just trying to get you thinking for yourself. CALL ME!!!
