Applicants must be county, tribe, or non-profitSubstance abuse training coming in spring, focused on ASAM placement criteriaShared that Center for Suicide Awareness has a new campaign materials targeting farmersKarn- Ho-Chunk Nation Behavioral Health Staff are currently becoming trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Reminder that Ho-Chunk Nation Behavioral Health Services are open to all people on Indian Health Service (IHS) insurance. There is also transitional housing for women who are awaiting a bed to go to treatment in Black River Falls. The house is called Hosto Pii Hoci. Historically, if a family called about someone who was suicidal, the police would respond in a more tactical fashion and making entry into home. Many departments have found that this intervention has increased suicides and police injury. Spring lost her brother to suicide and has attended events for Survivors of Suicide and Suicide Prevention Coalition in Juneau County and would like to see something similar or avenues for support set up in Monroe County. Also, her church is willing to hold support groups as well. Group members shared some good people to contact would be Katie Sparks at Independent Living Resources as peer support may be helpful for this, also Bob with Sober Eyes. Mandy shared that she would like a suicide prevention coalition as well and likes some of what La Crosse is doing. Kayleigh is more than happy to help get something started too. Issue/DiscussionDoug FOWI and Mental Health Doug discussed a case he had with a client. Trauma Informed CommunityTiffany/Sierra//Liz/Vicki/Kayleigh Update Kayleigh and Vicki presented to Flocks Guardians and also were facilitators for the Sparta site for the Office of Children’s Mental Health Trauma Informed Care workshops twice per year at multiple sites throughout Wisconsin. This training was on Cultural and Historical Trauma, the next one will be the first Monday in February looking at vicarious and secondary trauma. Michelle holds a monthly phone call for departments that are working on becoming trauma-informed. Contact Michelle to get on that list. Sue shared that volunteers at Lemonweir mentor program received ACEs training. Mandy spoke with John Hendricks about attending a meeting and outreach within the business community. Gunderson Clinic in Sparta is working on becoming trauma-informed. AdvocacyAllRecap of testimony at stateNancy shared that coalition members Liz, Dave, Kim, Doug, Kayleigh, and Tiffany came to testify in front of assembly and house committees for AB 530/SB 504 to allow for grant program for suicide prevention coalitions-up to $25,000. If passes Senate, then will go to Governor’s desk for approval. Other bills include: Creation of a suicide prevention office in DHS training for peer support, suicide prevention information on school IDs. Nancy shared that the taskforce has over 35 hours of testimony in regards to suicide prevention and the importance of stigma reduction, increased services, peer support, etc. School Outreach AllUpdates?
