Cell Analogy Project: What can a cell be compared to …
A car?A factory?A house?A beehive?
Something else?
Assignment: Compare a cell to another system and build a model of the system showing each of the parts and its relationship to a particular organelle inside a cell.
1. What will you compare a cell to? __________________________________________________________
2. What part will you assign each organelle? Use the table on the back of this paper, your textbook and organelle graphic organizer in your notebook to help you plan your project.
REQUIREMENTS
This is an INDEPENDENT project and will need to be completed outside of school.
1. The model must work as an approximate analogy of a cell.
2. The model must be 3-dimensional.
3. The model can be made out of any material EXCEPT FOOD (!!).
4. When you are planning, think about transport! It needs to be sturdy enough to get it to and from school without breaking apart.
5. Make sure your Analogy Table (including NAME and PERIOD) are attached to the model
6. You may work with ONE other person or ALONE. If you choose a partner, make sure it’s someone you can get together with outside of school to work on the project.
7. Points will be deducted for models turned in past the due date.
GRADING: This project is a 7th grade magnet requirement and is worth 60 points towards your semester grade.
