Request for White Papers – N2517-19-065US Navy C/KC-130T NP2000 Propeller Training System Q&AQ1. The Desired Objective section of the Request for White Papers includes the statement: “use the Government Furnished Equipment listed below or simulate that equipment to provide the same operation and tactile response required for training”. Does the tactile response objective apply to the cockpit interfaces such as the throttle, conditioners levers, EPCS panel, etc?A1. The Government’s shall statement refers only to the GFE that is being made available for use in the prototype. The vendor may choose to apply the tactile response feature for non-GFE items as part of its solution but is not required to do so. Q2. Will the Government describe the existing VMT (e.g. system capabilities, high level software architecture, system specs)?A2. The Virtual Maintenance Trainer (VMT) provides students with a virtual, interactive environment in which to troubleshoot faults. The VMT has an operational Control Display Unit (CDU) and Multifunction Display (MFD) emulations and contains a component location function for aircraft familiarization and other training. Trainees interact via three high-resolution, touch-screen monitors: a large 55-inch monitor to interact within the virtual world, one small monitor to access the CDU/MFD emulation, and another small monitor to access the Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETM) and other maintenance documents. At the heart of the VMT is a 3D model of the C-130T. High-resolution photographs of the aircraft and 3D models of the components augment this model as needed to support realistic maintenance procedures, such as, use of hand-held fault isolation equipment, and removal and replacement of designated components, as well as a set of customer-defined Integrated Built-In-Test (IBIT) scenarios. Requirement #6 states that if VMT products are part of the prototype solution, they shall have the ability to be loaded on the ALTC VMT system. If VMT products are not used, is VMT compatibility a requirement for other software solutions? A3. The Government’s requirement states that VMT products shall be used as part of the prototype solution. Other non-VMT elements of a solution are not required to be compatible with the ALTC VMT system.Q4. Does the Navy have a similar training product for the legacy propeller system? If so, please describe its capability. What training delivery technology does it utilize? A4. The Navy C-130 community does not have a similar training product for the legacy propeller system.Q5. Are other virtual training solutions such as interactive touchscreen monitors an acceptable alternative to a VR/AR/MR goggle solution?A5. The Government’s requirement states that AR and VMT products shall be used as part of the prototype solution. Other virtual training solutions such as interactive touchscreen monitors, Mixed Reality etc. are acceptable complementary elements of the prototype solution. ................
