2021 Medical Interpreting Training

(MIT)

Course Information:

This 40-hour medical interpreting class taught by experienced interpreters from

the Immigrant Health and Cancer Disparities Center of Memorial Sloan Kettering is

designed to meet the growing interest of many bilingual individuals who want to

become professionally trained medical interpreters.

You will learn the Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice of the medical

interpreter, medical terminology, cultural sensitivity, and interpreting skills,

including simultaneous, consecutive and sight translation. Students who enroll will

have access to our Online Language Lab, where they can further practice their

interpreting skill on their own and receive feedback from their instructors and

peers.

Eligibility criteria:

To qualify students must demonstrate fluency in English and a second language.

Students who are not fluent will not be able to participate.
