PLAYING TIME/ELIGIBILITY

• All players should get equal playing time throughout the game.

• A player’s eligibility is determined by which school he/she attends and the grade in which they are entering for the 2018-2019 school year.

REQUIRED/RECOMMENDED EQUIPMENT

• If both teams have the same color jersey, the away team is responsible for wearing different color pennies.

• Game shirts (provided for each team)

• No jewelry allowed (visible piercings must be removed prior to start of game)

• Size of Basketballs used:

Kindergarten - 1st Grade – Junior Size (27.5)

2nd-3rd Grade- Junior Size (27.5)

4th and 5th Grade- Women’s Size (28.5)

START OF THE GAME

• All Games will start with jump ball and then possession will alternate for the remainder of game.

• Teams will switch directions to begin the second half.

GAME PLAY

• K/1st Grade – Will play (4) 10 minute quarters with running clock. Each team will have 2 timeouts per game. No score will be kept.

• 2nd/3rd Grade – Will play (2) 20 minute halves with running clock. Each team will have 2 timeouts per game. No score will be kept.

• 4th/5th Grade- Will play (2) 20 minute halves with running clock. Clock will stop last 2 minutes of each half on dead balls. Each team will have 2 timeouts per half. Mercy rules are in effect for any team that is winning by 25 or more during any point of the game.

SUBSTITUTIONS

• Coaches can only sub on a dead ball and must ask for permission from the referee/scorekeeper.

• Players must hustle off the court when they are subbed off.

• All players should have equal playing time.

DEFENSIVE RULES

• THERE WILL BE NO ZONE DEFENSE ALLOWED IN ANY AGES

• Double teaming a player is not allowed above the free throw line extended. However, defensive players may help out if an offensive player with the ball is between the free throw line extended and the end line.

• Warnings will be issued the first 2 weeks of games for teams for 3 times per a game. Starting week 3 of games teams will receive one warning. After the initial 3 warnings weeks 1 and 2 and then the initial warning starting week 3 playing illegal defense as an advantage will be issued a team technical foul and 2 points and possession awarded to opposing team. This rule is for 4/5th Grade only. K/1 and 2/3 grade will just be reminded to watch the player with same wristband during game.

BASKET HEIGHT

• K/1 – Will play on 8ft baskets.

• 2nd/3rd Grade- Play on 9ft baskets.

• 4th5th Grade – Play on 10ft regulation size baskets.

OTHER RULES 4/5th Grades

• No full court press during the game until the last minute of the game in the 4/5th division.

• There will be a 10 second back court violation in effect.

• If player stops dribbling and has a defender on them and does not pass it within a 5 second count then possession would go to the other team (5 second rule)

• Score Out Rule – Any player participating in the 4th/5th grade boys or girls division that scores a total of 15 points or more in that individual game can no longer score any additional points and will be considered scored out for that game. They are still allowed to participate but any additional points they score will not be counted for that game to the team’s score.

• 4th/5th grade boys and girls divisions stealing is allowed.

• No shot clock will be used in any age division.

• Mercy Rule – A mercy rule will be in effect for 4th/5th divisions. Once a team is ahead by 25 or more points, the game score is reset to 0’s and the clock will run continuously for the remainder of the game.

• 4/5th grade division will have a 5 second count in the key for an offensive players (3 seconds in the key call)

• 4/5th will shoot 2 free throws for fouls during the shot, or will shoot 1 and 1 for team fouls totaling 7 fouls for the half. Then will get 2 shots when team fouls total 10 fouls. Players will foul out of the game when they have 5 individual fouls in the game.

• 4/5th divisions will get 1 warning the first week of games about any violations (traveling and double dribbles). After the first week of games all violations will be called.

• No coaches may be on the court for 4/5th grade during the game.

Other Rules K/1 and 2/3 Grades

• No full court defense at any point during game.

• K/1 and 2/3 is not allowed steal off the dribble. They may steal the pass or grab a loose ball.

• K/1 and 2/3 Divisions will wear different color wristbands to matchup for defense. They will be provided at the games for teams to use.

• K/1 and 2/3 grade will not keep track of fouls or shoot free throws. Refs may call fouls for either grade and give the ball to the team that was fouled out of bounds.

• 2/3 grade divisions will give warnings for the first 3 weeks for violations (traveling, double dribbles). The refs will explain to player and give ball out of bounds. After week 3 violations will be called during the game and the ball given to the other team out of bounds.

• K/1 no violations will be called, but coaches should be reminding players to dribble as much as possible, and pass the pass when stopping their dribbles.

• One coach at a time for K/1 may be on the court during the game.

• No coaches may be on the court for 2/3 Grades during the game

TECHNICALS

• Any and all technical fouls will result in 2 points and possession of ball awarded to opposing team.

• Any player receiving a technical foul must be removed from the game for a period of time deemed appropriate by respective coach but should be at least 2 minutes of game time. Any player receiving 2 technical fouls in a game will be ejected from the current game and the teams following game.

COACHES & PARENTS

• Each team will be allowed 2 coaches on the team bench during the game and will be responsible for team parents and players during the game.

• If you need to talk with the referees, please do so in a positive and non-confrontational manner during half time or after the game. NOT DURING THE GAME. Only the head coach of the team may talk to the referees.

• League will provide clock operator/score keeper, and staff at information table for each game.

• Any coach receiving 2 technical fouls in a game will be ejected from the current game and the teams following game. Any coach that accrues 3 technical fouls over the course of the season will be removed from their coaching position for the remainder of the season.

SPORTSMANSHIP

• All players, coaches & parents will have positive attitudes, both on and off the court.

• All players and coaches will shake hands with opposing players and coaches after each game.

• Any player, coach or parent caught using profane language on the premises of the game will receive one warning. If such actions continue, any party(s) involved may be asked to leave the game and may be barred from attending future games in our organizations.

RAIN OUTS/WEATHER HOTLINE:

• In the case of heavy rain or snow, the decisions to cancel or reschedule a game may be made. If the weather has been consistently poor, decisions to cancel will be made at 8 am on Saturdays, after that time will be made as need be.
