Dear Spring Park Families,

February is the month of love as we celebrate Valentine’s Day. I wish you all lots of love on that day. What I also desire for you is love for all of your days. Gary Chapman’s book Five Love Languages helps us to understand that we need love in a variety of ways. I think during this month it is important to identify ways to share love with our children. Sometime we forget that children have a variety of needs and it is important to find ways to support our children.

1. Words of Affirmation. Compliments and words of encouragement are important to share with our loved ones.

2. Quality Time. Being available to our children is very important. Turn off the video and electronic devices. Sit and share time with your children. Give them your undivided attention.

3. Gifts. Yes, we all like gifts. We like gifts that demonstrate love and thoughtfulness.

4. Acts of Service. Serving others with large and small actions require thought and planning. What was the last gift of service you gave someone?

The last love language is Touch. Sometimes we benefit from the hugs of our loved ones. During this month of February identify which “Love Languages” you share with others and which ones you like to receive. Spend time sharing this language with your children.
